Nah, DW played juniors with Col Rundle, he scored his first ton on the weekend after 25 years of playing cricket.

The point i was making aswell what the PDCA let us all play on that Saturday at 39 degrees, but the next day was too hot!!!?? Pffft, whatever. You cant tell me that it wasnt hotter than 39 out at Two Wells that day... The whole game should have been cancelled if we are going by "the rules".

Browny, I can totally understand your angst after last season, each year, all of the club delegates get together at the PDCA AGM and discuss all possible variations of the rules and vote on changing them, it is a long night and nobody is allowed to leave until the meeting has been called "closed".
If you start making assumptions on weather and conditions it will open a bigger can of worms, they have got it right IMO, during the 6pm news on the night before a game is scheduled, if the weather-person states that the forecast for Elizabeth is 40 or above, there is no cricket. This eliminates any grey areas and they use Elizabeth because it is relatively central for all of the PDCA clubs.

I believe they have got it right aswell, but just would have been nice to see a result for finals.

def was a result two wells premiers.. need to build a bridge browny and worry about this year..
dont want the weather to stuff you up 2 years in a row..

Maybe it should be monitored by getting updated radio forecasts on a certain station, if it goes below 40 go back on. If the umpire expects it to be over 40 for the whole day call it off.
You don't call the whole day off for a 10 minute rain period.

They have to have a hard and fast rule applied across the comp, and it can't be subjective. And you can't change the rules because it's a final IMHO. If there were a fair way to do so then so be it but I can't think of one. It probably goes to show the benefit of finishing top 2.

For what it's worth I think the way the rule is applied is perfect. The only thing they might look at changing is the number they go on because in time it will change to 36, perhaps slowly, and perhaps one degree at a time.

isnt cricket a summer sport? if its to hot in the kitchen get out i say.. i reckon 40 has to stay.. at 36 we would only play half a season and prob not play any finals.. how would that keep people keen?

Personally, I'd play in any heat. But the time will come, whether you or I like it or not, when the heat rule will be enforced at lower and lower temperatures. And I think you'll find more people that would appeal to than you'd think. Many people don't play because of the physical toll the game can take, especially on hot days. And many clubs are seriously affected by player shortages when the days get really hot. I don't think I remember too many hot finals so I doubt we'd lose too many. I see your point, I really do, and personally I agree. But I think it's just something that will happen regardless of whether we want it or not, and many people would prefer it.

I thought there was a simple solution that the exec of the PDCA couldve put into place with the forecast for Sunday already over 40 it shoudve been declared a one dayer on the sat, no team disadvantaged and a fair game for all.

The trouble with that is the forecast is quite often a few degrees out after a 24 hour gap, besides, the true indication of the better side is over the longer version of the game.

Round 2 of our 20/20 comp is on this Sunday at Playford.

12pm Playford vs Craigmore
3pm Smithfield vs Eastern Park

Round 1 was a great day enjoyed by all that attended. Playford 8/128 (20overs) def. Smithfield 127 (19.5 overs), Craigmore defeated Eastern Park easily after dismissing them for 43.

Due to the 2nd game finishing so early, we had a 13 over a side game for any of the specatators that wanted a hit, that was a good laugh.

Cheap drinks, bbq and some entertaining cricket will be on the cards again. We had a fair crowd in round 1.

Understand that but if the rule stated that it was based on the friday night forecast it should be ok

After getting 2 out of 4 tips right last weekend ill have another crack this weekend to see how i go.
Salisbury West vs Virginia: I see this game as a close one as many people are still under rating virginia at the moment, but i still see salisbury west getting over the line.
Predicted score: Salisbury west 275 Virginia 240
Two Wells Vs Rose And Crown: This game i can only seeing finish one way, and that is with a Two Wells victory, i believe the bowling strength of both sides will tell in the final result.
Predicted score: Two Wells 280 R&C 165
ATCO Vs Brahma Lodge: My team is high on confidence at the moment and with the tigers previous few results i can see the trend continuing.
Predicted Score: Atco 260 BL 180
One Tree Hill Vs Sandy Creek: Surely Sandy Creek has to bounce back sometime and i believe this is the game to do it. They sure will gain some much needed confidence with what i see to be a big win.
Predicted Score: OTH 170 & 5/120 Sandy Creek 245
