Must be, heard there were a few club's chasing him (Port and possibly Adelade also).
Believe Glenelg offered him a coaching position with some money attached but obviously not in the ballpark of the other club's.

I think ex-juniors Kelvin Smith and Harry Nielsen have been announced.

Kelvin might be a chance of knocking off Andrew Haslett’s club runs record if he plays a few more seasons?

Looks like the jets have approval for a new indoor training facility. I wonder if like St Jay's it will be able to be hired for community clubs to

Just on that. Should the players the redbacks recruit from interstate be allocated a local grade club by the SACA?

Like Worrall was sent to Adelaide and lasted less than 12 months, then moves to Kensington

Cant force someone to travel down to Southerns or Northerns?

They are living in Henley near the beach so want to play locally, cant blame them for that :D

Can actually, because Adelaide isn't really that big and they are here to better their cricket not advance their social life and no I don't agree with the Worrall example either. I figured you would disagree though ;)
They also are being paid by the SACA so should be told where to play by them, meant to be enhancing the competition really by spreading them out across the clubs if they are serious about it.

100% correct
They will bowl more, bat higher and have much greater expectations and pressure to perform when they go to a lesser club, a great recipe for personal growth

Don' t the Redbacks need growth

yes the redbacks need growth - but by their new recruits/imports playing in a substandard competition, there is going to be no growth.

They're not here to strengthen the grade competition. That's a spin off benefit if it eventuates

They're here to further their career and to try to improve the Redbacks team

Wasn't a certain club trying to lure recruits with "you'll get two hits every game" as a selling point? :D
Not sure that's quite what someone keen on making a profession out of the game would be looking for!

They advertised for it to be a 3 year deal as well, so should give them some stability. 3 coaches in the last 3 years.
Think they also announced the coach of their Adelaide High School junior teams as well ;)

WT are building one hell of a team, with Ferg, Gibson, Capel, Drew, Nielsen, Johnson and now Buckingham. Wonder if there's room for Doggett?? Very strong when all available

You forgot to mention Kelvin Smith coming back to his original club after a stint in the west.

Buckingham a confirmed signing for the Eags. Coming from grade club Footscray and was part of Victoria's emerging players squad.
Chatting to him, chose WT because of the first-class training facilities and coaching, positive and welcoming club culture and hard-working volunteer officials who went the extra yard to get him. Will also get plenty of bowling with the quick bowling stocks a bit thin at WT with Spencer Johnson the only first grade regular at present.

Very interesting to see the poaching tactic of WT this season. Does bring up the question why the younger players Crouch, Carrington, Pointon etc have not progressed compared to others their age? Have WT missed the boat in developing the next batch of talent? Apparently WT coaching panel refused to go to any other games besides 1st grade?!
