I dunno if Nathan Adcock is considered 'local' but I was watching him tee off at Argana Park in about 1996 or 1997.
He hit a ball which landed quite a way on to the soccer pitch at the southern end of the oval - to get there it had to go over a large stand of gum trees.

6 foot 5, 160 kilo + Nick 'Slim' Johns gives them a fair belt. The guy 'Miss Hit' Sixes. Belted a ball 110 metres at the Willowfest Whack. Played the majority of his cricket at Woodside, but now at Kersbrook.

Nup,consistent but not 'big'. Bloke from ICC who on Hackham Oval hit one of our blokes up onto the soccer field, about half way across the field. The bowler had the audacity to say "Oh, so you're got a pull shot? ". Yep, a very good one.

Well those sixes he hit in a row at South Road into the houses are pretty big, and consistent aswell! And that spinner, did he have the guts to throw the next ball up aswell ;)

Nick O'Dell and Heath Weber from the Valleys both hit a pretty mean ball.

A few years ago now, I watched from 1st slip a ball hit by Johnny Rankin from RCP (now Goodwood) put a fairly handy quick by the name of Darren Garrett back over his head, over the Gum trees at Ingle Farm in a Brock Partners one dayer.
Sounded like a cannon going off....
The man could hit a ball...

The dream opening partnership of years gone by in the SCA would be Ken Bermingham (cove) and Greg Dowsett (port).
2 of the most detructive and biggest hitting cricketers I've ever seen that both opened.
