Does anyone else here play in the SACCCA (Churches and Community Cricket Association)?
The Association AGM was held last Monday and there were a few interesting decisions made.

1) For 2-day games, play will now begin at 1:00pm and finish at 5:15pm, with a maximum of 65 overs/day. (This is the idea Betania has been pushing for a while)

2) To qualify for the finals in a lower grade, you must have played more matches in the lower grade than the higher grade. (This only applies if the higher grade is not in the finals) This has replaced the traditional permit system.

Personally I don't agree with this - eg. If you play the first 3 games in A-grade when they are short of players, get injured and come back and play the last 2 games in B-Grade where you belong, you are not eligible to play B-Grade Finals!

3) It is likely that there will be 7 two-day games, and 3 one-day games this season, with no play on the Adelaide Oval Test match weekend or Aust. Day long weekend.

Nothing about that was mentioned at the AGM, so no.

I believe "defunct" was the word used at the meeting. At the time of the AGM I believe they were going to field a team, but have since decided not to.

No, definitely in Div 4 of the churches comp until last year. See http://www.sacca.asn.au/statistics/premiership.html for last year's premiership tables.

Having seen Seaton A in Adelaide Suburban last year,I would be surprised (without massive player departures) that they dont dominate Section 2 in the Churches comp..

No, I am fairly sure now that there are actually two different Happy Valley clubs. The one that was in the Churches comp originated from the Salvation Army.

A couple of the major players wanted a year off and most of the others went elsewhere. Might be back next year.

must be 2 different clubs - Happy Valley play in the HCA in 4 grades, came to the Hills from Southern about 6 years ago. Play at the Happy Valley Oval (which is in Aberfoyle Park!) and the Hub High School...

Not sure whether it was a push,or a timely jump.
