The AEHCA side looks very strong and imagine they would start favourites, especially as host.

TVCA's looks better balanced than last season with a few older guys making themselves available, so hopefully will be competitive.

As predicted the batting of A&EHCA was my concern even tho it was chock full of potential. Were on track to chase down Gt Southerns 202 when they were 5/159 needing a touch over 5 rpo but GS kept the field up and pressure on and it told as the batters panicked and together with a couple of great catches highlighted by Bartletts brilliant catch to dismiss Jaspa Tonkin the local lads collapsed sensationally losing 5/2 to be rolled for 161 with still more than 6 overs left.

A&EHCA smashed K Island chasing down the target of 68 in just 43 balls

Great Southern secured their spot in the Final by chasing down Murray Towns 122 6 wickets down in a dour struggle at Strath

Hills took care of Torrens Valley comfortably at L Creek who battled hard in compiling 7/146 from 50 overs which Hills chased down for the loss of 2 wickets iwith 16 overs to spare

The Hills Cricket Association (HCA) has won the Harry Meyer Shield after a thrilling one-wicket win against the Great Southern Cricket Association (GSCA) at the Summit Sport & Recreation Park in Mount Barker today. It was the fifth title for Hills in the past seven years.

Great Southern batted first with Matt Overall (61), Sam Hoffmann (56 not out) and Aaron Smith (31) the leading run scorers as the GSCA posted a competitive total of 8/186 from their 50 overs. Steve Featherstone (3/51), Jack Woollard (2/26) and Michael Warburton (2/33) were the main wicket takers for Hills.

Hills got themselves into a strong position in the run chase as they reached 3/122 with skipper Jordan Neis-Beer (45) and Josh Healey (27) leading the way. However, four quick wickets fell as Great Southern got themselves back into the game with the score at 7/144 as Mitch Thomas joined Harrison Webb at the crease. This pair added 34 runs for the eighth wicket before Thomas went for 23 (23 balls), and when the ninth wicket fell with eight runs required, the injured Jake Turnbull came out to the crease with the aid of a runner. Four runs were needed off the final over and Webb brought up the win with a six to end the game with just three balls to spare. Webb played an excellent hand to finish with 38 not out (67 balls), while Jayden Crees (3/30) and Chris Butler (2/38) were the multiple wicket takers for Great Southern.

It was an excellent game of Cricket on a picture-perfect day in the Adelaide Hills, and was a great showcase of Cricket in the Fleurieu region.

Yep, Looks that way unless they finish up early and rush back ?
Lobethal, Creek and Nairne would be the teams severely affected.

Must say i find it hard to take the comp seriously anyway so doesn't bother me much.

Teams from other Associations, Marquee players, Prize Money, Give me a break, it's not the IPL !!

Well as it turned out the Creek Rep lads got back to play albeit 10 minutes late and Nairne also got their Reps back as well.
Not that they had any impact with the bat at least !!!!
Timmins and Kenney for Nairne along with Clements and Kropp for the Creek made the Grand total of 5 runs off 12 balls between the 4 of them
Both Teams tho progressed to the Semi Finals with wins over Maccy and Port Elliot respectively whilst Woodside got over Bremer / Callington who were without their captain who got given a short holiday by the tribunal for some indiscretions the previous week against Nairne. Given 2 matches .

Lobethal not that confident of getting their Rep players back in time got their match against Strath changed to Friday night. Would be a major shock not tho see them win.

Mylor moved inside the top-four after defeating Kangarilla by three wickets during round 15 action of the Hills Cricket Association (HCA) at Kangarilla yesterday. The home side batted first and were in more trouble than the early settlers as they slumped to 3/2 inside the first four overs. Che Martinsen (22) and Joel Stidston (15) put on 38 runs for the fourth wicket, while Ben Evans made 22 not out (32 balls) but ultimately Kangarilla were bowled out for just 82. Todd Dellatorre (2/10), Thomas Jensen (2/13) and Peter Johns (2/18) were the multiple wicket takers for the Piper, while Oliver Barnes bowled a miserly spell of 1/7 (9). Kangarilla made Mylor fight hard in the run chase, taking regular wickets and reducing the Pipers to 5/52. Alex Gurner (22) and skipper Michael Warburton (14 not out) were the leading run scorers for the visitors as they brought up the winning runs with three wickets and more than 12 overs to spare. Jack Evans (2/12), Steve Featherstone (2/27) and Ben Evans (2/27) battled it out with the ball for ‘Kangies’.


Reigning premier Stirling moved up to third spot on the ladder with a 23-run win against Mt Lofty at Heathfield yesterday. Stirling batted first with all batsmen reaching double figures as they posted a competitive 5/199 from their 45 overs. Harrison Webb (46), Jack Pick (42), Kurt Zytnik (27 not out) and Jack Read (25) led the way for the visitors in an excellent team batting effort. Josh Healey (3/43) was the leading wicket taker for the Redcaps. Mt Lofty got off to a fast start with Josh Healey making 24 from 22 balls, but Stirling reined them in as the home side slipped to 4/55. Ryan Pistola (39) and Tim Noble (23) added 65 for the fifth wicket to get the home side back in the game, before Brad Hutton (33) got his side into a winning position at 6/173. The equation was 27 runs required from 36 balls and the Redcaps were probably favourites before Ezekiel Hemming (2/24) made a double breakthrough in the 40th over. Opening bowler Chris Shaw then wrapped up the game with two wickets in the 41st over as Mt Lofty were bowled out for 176. Shaw finished with the excellent figures of 5/22 from his nine overs, his second five-wicket haul in the past three games, Webb completed a fine all-round game with 2/22 from five overs.


Meadows won their second game in a row to keep the pressure on for a top-four spot after defeating Aldgate by eight wickets at Aldgate Oval. The Gaters batted first with a number of players getting a start without capitalising and making a big score as they were bowled out for 159. Jack Woollard (37), James Anthony (33) and Shaun Atkins (26) were the leading run scorers for the home side. Veteran Chad Dawe bowled an excellent spell for the Bulldogs with 3/15 (9), while Brad Louch (3/39), Rohan Reid (2/23) and David Bates (2/39) were the other wicket takers. Dylan Brown and Luke Tonkin continued their excellent union at the top of the order with a 76-run stand before Brown went for 43 (43 balls). Tonkin went on to top score with 59 not out (104 balls), while Brad Dawe made 49 not out (46 balls), his highest score of the season.


Bridgewater won their fourth game of the season with a comfortable seven-wicket win against Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) at Bridgewater yesterday. SCIB batted first with Adam Shearwood continuing his excellent season as he top scored with 89 from 104 balls (9 x 4’s). Shearwood now has 455 runs in 2023/24 to sit fifth on the HCA batting aggregate. Thomas Watton (24) and Aaron Thompson (22) chipped in with useful runs, but that was about it for SCIB as they were bowled out for 171 in the 43rd over. Ty Watson (3/21) and Jarrad Tait (3/29) were the leading wicket takers for the Raiders. Watson and Luke Hoyle got Bridgewater off to a good start with a 56-run opening partnership before Hoyle departed for 37 from 34 balls (5 x 4’s). ‘Bridgey’ lost 3/15 and at 3/71, SCIB were back in the game. Enter Jarrad Tait to join Watson at the crease and this pair saw their side over the line with an unbroken 104-run stand for the fourth wicket. Tait finished with 71 not out from 57 balls (9 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s), while Watson made 50 not out from 106 balls. Daniel Desnego (2/36) was the multiple wicket taker for Scott Creek Ironbank.

In just their second year back in ‘A’ grade competition after a long hiatus, Mylor have qualified for the finals following a 69-run win at Meadows on Saturday during round 18 action in the Hills Cricket Association (HCA). Mylor batted first with Tom Plant and Shane Maslin putting on 101 runs for the first wicket before Plant was dismissed for 46 from 85 balls (5 x 4’s, 1 x 6). Maslin continued on to top score with 76 from 112 balls (8 x 4’s), while Ben James made a hard-hitting 68 from 63 balls (4 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s) as the Pipers put up 6/226 from their 45 overs. Veteran Chad Dawe came on late in the innings and snared his first ever hat-trick, finishing with 4/33 (4). Callan Blackwell (2/30) was the other wicket taker for the Bulldogs. Meadows were never really in the run chase with Haydn Reid the only batsman to reach 20 as he made 52 from 83 balls (8 x 4’s) with the home side being bowled out for 157 in the 43rd over. Six Mylor bowlers took wickets with Michael Warburton (3/13) and Thomas Jensen (3/39) the leading wicket takers. Mylor will now face off with Stirling in the Elimination Final at Stirling this Saturday.

Mt Lofty claimed the minor premiership with a comfortable eight-wicket win against Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) at Heathfield Oval yesterday. The two teams will meet in the Qualifying Final at the same venue this Saturday. On Saturday, SCIB batted first with Aaron Thompson continuing his excellent season as he top scored with 51 (77 balls). He was ably supported by Adam Shearwood (36) and Daniel Desengo (24) as SCIB posted a competitive 9/176 from their 45 overs. Josh Healey (2/19) and Peter Giannes (2/41) were the multiple wicket takers for the Redcaps and there were four run-outs. Mt Lofty made light work of the run chase with Healey top scoring with 87 not out from 114 balls (10 x 4’s, 1 x 6), while Josh Mitchell made a hard-hitting 58 from just 28 balls. Mitchell’s innings included four boundaries and six ‘maximums’ as the winning runs came up in the 36th over.

Reigning premier Stirling confirmed their spot in the finals after a high-scoring 39-run win at Bridgewater. The Eagles batted first and got off to a great start through an opening stand worth 126 runs between Jack Read and Connor McFadyen. Both players were very aggressive with McFadyen top scoring with 90 (71 balls), while Read made 60 (49 balls). Daniel Gonzalez (56) and Harrison Webb (38) continued the carnage as the Eagles finished all out for 300 in the 45th over. Liam Risson (4/58) and Shannon Cox (3/69) were the multiple wicket takers for the Raiders. Bridgewater’s innings was underpinned by a fine century from Ty Watson who top scored with 101 not out from 124 balls (9 x 4’s, 2 x 6’s). He added 101 runs for the sixth wicket with Caleb Risson (57 from 51) but ultimately ‘Bridgey’ came up short at 7/261. Ezekiel Hemming (2/16), Jack Pick (2/34) and McFadyen (2/55) were the leading wicket takers for the Eagles.

An undefeated century to Kangarilla skipper Lachlan Knight has led his team to a thrilling one-wicket victory against Aldgate. It was ‘Kangies’ first win in three months and knocked Aldgate out of finals calculations in the process. The Gaters batted first with Shaun Atkins (34), Josh Callaghan (34) and Luke Smet (27 not out) helping Aldgate to 7/173 from their 45 overs. Ben Evans was the best of the Kangarilla bowlers with 3/27 from his nine-over spell. Aldgate looked to have the game well in their keeping as Kangarilla slipped to 5/41. Knight was carrying the team on his back, but at 9/120 it appeared the game was over. Number 11 batsman Troy Martinsen joined Knight in the 34th over with 54 runs remaining for victory and this pair defied all the odds to see their team over the line in the 44th over. Knight finished with 115 not out from 146 balls with his innings containing 10 boundaries and seven sixes, while Martinsen ended up with an invaluable 1 not out (21 balls). Jack Woollard (2/22) was the pick of the Aldgate bowlers. These two wickets helped Woollard take out the HCA Bowling trophy with 27 wickets for the season.

As expected the Pirates were too strong for Birdwood, who returned to finals for the first time in 15+ years. The other semi was a low scoring and by all reports fiery one, with the Skunks winning at Eden Valley in the dying overs.

Scibs would have been many people’s picks for bottom, even they didn’t expect this. Not as star studded as most teams but play consistent cricket to give themselves a chance. Mylor with plant are an extremely good side, just maybe their bowling isn’t as damaging as others outside of Warburton. Stirling look very dangerous and this is probably the best side they have had in there last 3 years which is saying something for a side coming off 2 flags. Lofty with home ground advantage will be favourites though, plenty of batting and Carthew back with the ball is huge.

Cheers mate we are young side this year and to perform the way we have most weeks has been awesome and hopefully we continue for a couple more weeks. Yeah unlucky for your boys in the second half of the season I did see that stat on your Facebook about the record after Xmas the last two seasons being pretty average.
Enjoyed heading out to Lenswood this season its great spot for cricket that you guys have there.

Our batting application certainly deserted us in the second half of the season, as you saw first hand a month or so ago. An enjoyable season for the most part though, our young C’s played some good cricket and only missed finals on NRR, and the off-season jump to a different association all went smoother than I could have imagined it would.

Both our clubs are fortunate to have picturesque ovals to call home for sure.

Hmm no reserve day should Saturday’s semi finals in AEHCA be abandoned. Had our season ended in 2018/19 due to the heat, not the way you want a final decided.
