Sorry Obs, I must have worded it wrong. wasnt having a go at other clubs. was moreso having a go at the concept. I think we are both thinking the same thing.

I was just trying to say I wonder how we go in the comp itself if we arent putting the absolute best out there from our comp.
(not knocking the blokes selected either just putting a thought out there for discussion)

there wouldnt be any zones that have their absolute best 25 players running around out there. the southern zone seem to be lucky in that the teams they take are generally all quite handy players and there is not a lot of drop off. the south east zone took two under 17's last year who had not even played an A grade game because they could not fill their team. and there are a lot of very good players running around down there...
injuries, team loyalty and other general excuses are the major reasons why all teams will never fill their sides with every gun player in their zone.
maybe they can rename it:
South Australain Country Football 'players who actually want to play' Championships???

its still a great concept and hopefully more and more players are enthused by it and put their hands up to play.

It's always going to be tough to pick the absolute best players unless there is full blown interleague matches (think Lovelock Shield) to pick the sides from.

I think the association footy needs to be pumped up a little more to get players interested. If the matches were played on a Friday night under lights and advertised, you'd get bigger crowds and better atmosphere and then the top players would want to be a part of it.

Imagine the crowd that you'd get if the best SFL rep side (not under 23s or 25s) played the best GSFL side under lights on a Friday night at a Southern League ground! I'd go and watch - I reckon it would be a top night out.
