In the BL&G's grand final day program, a series of photos appeared of a couple of young Kapunda lads streaking across Yankalilla Oval during their footy trip. Seems there was a photographer there and he took the shots and sent them to the editor of the BL&G program. That bloke then went ahead and printed them with their names alongside (the shots were from behind and the lads would have been unrecognisable to most) without their permission. That's how you can get caught out. One bloke was from a prominent family and was not impressed. Very poor judgement by the editor.

Whose poor judgement was it?

The guys did a streak in a public place...

So, whose poor judgement was it?

Spot on Dogwatcher, spot on. "Oh it wasn't my fault I streaked across an oval with over 1000 spectators watching and got caught, how could I know someone would take a photo and publish it".

For what it's worth though, I was at Yank that day and it was frickin funny, so I'm glad they did it.

That happens at Yank alllll the time,
even during a normal home and away game, not necessarily a final !
So I thought it must have just been the 'local' lads - again

Anyway in short - actions = consequences - good or bad - facebook or no facebook - cameras or no cameras - I'm afraid.

That's my point Ginger, 10 - 15 years ago (or back in my day) the chances of something like this being photographed was remote. These days you really have to think twice about those sort of antics because it's more than likely that you will get photographed or videoed. It's definately a deterent and I think its a shame because those sort of capers are what make footy trips so special.

And yes that streak was comedy gold!!

If you do it down the street, the chances are higher you will get photographed by your mates than 10-15 years ago. You're correct.

Do it at a country football game - I don't think the odds have changed, particularly if it was a GF, because there are always country media at those games.

Exactly. Most blokes are too busy drinking piss to worry about Facebook. FFS!

Maybe Facebook has just added to the skills required to successfully negotiate a footy trip - ie. avoid doing anything stupid on camera !!!

A couple of years back, our footy trip slogan for our shirts was What happens on tour, stays on tour (crossed out) - Goes on Facebook !!!

I know as the organiser of our last 2 footy trips I make it clear at the start of the tour to everyone involved that it's ok to joke about the funny stuff outside of the tour but the leaking of any information that gets people in s**t whether it is verbally, written or orally will no longer be welcome on the footy trip and be looked upon harshly by those whom attend. As long as everybody is fully aware of this then 99% of blokes will comply. I've seen some pretty funny stuff that I will not disclose on here, i even am responsible for 1-2.Nothing too bad but still enuf to drop me in it

I dont reckon it is a problem
we had on our 08 trip the slogan, "what happens on footy trip, stays on footy trip" (with footy trip crossed out and the facebook logo put on the shirt)
and we made a group and tryed to get girls to add us, while we were at the races and what not
Just have to use a bit of common sense really
dont put shit that you know will get a bloke in trouble, wether it be with the law, missus or the place you go!
otherwise its all fun and games
If you are a decent mate and you did put something up that could get someone in trouble just take it down quick smart!!
We dont have many old blokes on the trip so most of the young guys have got it already and have pics from nights on the piss already posted!!
get on board the thunder train!!!

Some of the blokes from the Melbourne Football Club have obviously not kept their Facebook settings private, as a result, quite a few photos from their footy trip have shown up over on Big Footy, firstly on the Melbourne FC section, and then on Bay 13.

i have always been a firm believer of the two golden rules of going on tour

1 / Team attire must never reveal your origin / especially when touring within the country

2 / Those who are likely to get themsleves into messy situations must be assigned with a name alias prior to departure

we did both of these when i played country footy, our t-shirts read "SA state lamp shading championships" was hilarious explaining to people who asked what lampshading is.
