A recent match between Box Hill Hawks and Port Melbourne was moved from Port home ground at Hawthorn's insistence. The Hawks refused to play the match at North Port Oval and if it was forced to play there they would pull all AFL listed players from the team. I believe the reason has to do with finals being played at the ground and not wanting to give Port the advantage of having beating the Hawks on their home ground. The VFL along with pressure from the AFL caved in and moved the game to Box Hill's ground.
