Seemed that if you didn't like him you at least respected him a little. A bit like Howard in that regard. And nothing like theypoliticians both state and federal nowadays

**** me

Me too!
Rann was a lying, cheating, snake who just happened to be bloody good at getting away with it and bullying his way through.

Jay may be simply less able, or less committed, or perhaps not able to hold the same loyalty - keep watching Tom K's long game.
The ALP has all the same rivalries as any other political party but the centralisation of candidate selection power makes it easier to keep the lid on when it is time to make the elected members toe the line and thus con the public again for the next election.

I'm not saying the Liberal Party is any better, just that their candidate selection system is more open to scrutiny and therefore it is harder to keep a lid on the aspirants.

Viva la Independents!

fair enough, you guys would know more about that than me

Mike Rann was an absolute disgrace, as a human and a politician. I disagreed with a fair whack of John Howard's decisions during his tenure as PM but he shat on Rann in every aspect. Jake is a poorer version of Rann, in every way, which makes the state Libs inability to win power even more laughable. Ideally for the state ALP branch Weatherill will be run over by a speeding Tom K. Hopefully Jack Snelling gets backed over as well.

A conversation here, a conversation there.

Stephan is a very ambitious man and has taken on a bit of an 'attack dog' role in parliament. He's on the rise.

He'd want to be careful. He could end up with a knife in his hand before the election and find himself behind Marshall in the halls before he even knows it.

From Big Steve Marshall via facebook:

Electricity in South Australia is a divisive issue. It shouldn’t be.

My priority is delivering affordable and reliable electricity. Labor didn't consider the consequences of its ideological crusade which has led to massive price hikes and blackouts.

We are abolishing Labor’s dangerous plan to rapidly increase the volume of unreliable and intermittent renewable energy in South Australia. A national target is a sensible way of transitioning towards renewable energy.

Until intermittent renewable energy can be stored and dispatched when required, we need to slow the transition to renewables so that South Australian households and businesses are protected from further price hikes and instability.

There might just be some life in the old state Libs. At least he is jumping on one of the massive issues. Honestly even if he has no idea how to fix it, all he has to do is bitch about it for a bit and he should win the next election.

It doesnt need to shine out his ass he just needs to well not do a Steven Marshell until the next election ;)

I agree with you on Chapman, amazing that she is still there, an absolute piece of work. I still recall a few elections ago when it was tight and Isbell Redmond was the opposition leader and it was close to the end and coukd go either way, and even it looked like the Libs could be a chance here, then enter Vicki Chapman and she gets asked about the Liberal leadership and all she had to do was rule out a challenge in thr near future and back the current leader and the would have probably gotten up. Her comments were only a few days before the election and they lost by a bees dick. But alas she wouldnt do it and didnt rule it out and its all history now.

Honestly a piece of work. Under cut each other at any cost and now 2017 and Labor have had the keys in thus state for donkeys years.

I suspect, in the greater voting population's mind, that the words "vote Labor" had more to do with the loss than anything Vickie Chapman said in the lead-up. That and the leader scurrying away like a cockroach that's just had the light shined in its direction when he was asked about Wok In A Box.
Those two things would have done public confidence in Marshall's ability no favours.
