Don't be so hard on yourself

The amusing ones are the Murdoch haters
They must be the most prolific readers of Murdoch so they can bag him - Rudd used to quote him twice per day calling for a RC
Then, when Murdoch hangs $hit on someone else they hate, they quote him

Now..... thats being an

I read a lot of different stuff

As do I as you will never get balanced reporting and views unless you are prepared to do so.

As an aside, I stopped reading crickey as it was just bash bash bash Morrison.

Articles like the one you posted above were extremely few and far between.

Very true.

It’s one of the reasons social media can be so insidious, as the ‘algorithm’ will just keep serving up the same content which can start to skew what you consume, and at the extremes creates those so-called echo chambers.

Always good to go wide as well as deep. 8-[

Ironic thing is Morrison made them a $million via the FB and Yahoo content agreements

Bernard Keane is getting hammered because he dared to publish and comment about the Covid report
It's quite amusing watching them turn on one of their favourites (as they are doing with the ABC)
If it's not biaed towards what they think then it should be shut down

And what is it with some of these people that they idolise politicians?

Social Media ban, thoughts?

I think it is total crap, parents should be able to choose, I know many parents who don't let their kids on SM or ease them into it slowly.

Understand the reasons why, but tend to agree. It’s being rushed through parliament with seemingly little detail, and in any case don’t see how you could enforce it.

Such a complicated problem is rarely solved by a solution that is simplistic with little thought.

Put it through the parliamentary and public scrutiny it deserves and see where it ends up.

Never a good idea to go after the media (people with a purpose and gallons of ink)

Labor are doing everything they can to lose the next election
The opposition should never have been in the race for the next 2 elections.

Working in education for many years, I've seen what social media can do to young people.
Blanket ban till you are a little more mature....16 I think is a great idea.

Parents that say it's ok to have a social media account at such a young age, need to have a good look at the recent Facebook standards.

I think it's a great idea and anyone saying it's taking away personal freedoms is kidding themselves.
Hey lets give them licenses to drive at 14 and see how that goes.

Agreed

Maybe the problem is there is no uniformity in age limit

Kids can be charged with a capital crime from age 10
Driving at 16
Enlist at 17
Drinking at 18
Voting at 18

Have you seen or witnessed some of the parents around?
They wouldn't know what apps or web pages their kids are looking at.

The Universities Accord (Student Support and Other Measures) Bill 2024 also passed the Senate, which will provide a 20% write-off of HELP debt and lower the yearly student debt indexation rate.
