and the other week i was asked whether i would accept a fall in my own house price to make the market more accessible to young people, and I dont think I would. So there is my self interest too.

I still think it is unreasonable to expect 100% of the population to have the means to afford a house. But what that number should be is hard. should only the top 50% of earners be able to afford a house? 80%? 30?

No idea

Would you accept a bigger drop in price because the housing market crashed?

Well, if it's your family home and not an investment, does it matter if the market undergoes correction? No.

Budget night. The night where they openly tell you about the $15 a week they'll give you while they hide the measures that take $25 a week from you.

Turnbull's lost the ******* plot...drug testing sewage, drug testing welfare recipients.

Or maybe he has a good friend in the pathology lab that gets to conduct the testing ;)

With all the touchy freely centrist stuff they still needed a traditional pinata to smack, presumably to keep some of the hardliners from going apoplectic, and the low hanging fruit in this case was welfare recipients. Not sure it does anything except demonise the vulnerable.

I would have a much stronger approach to welfare recipients....in particular those long term unemployed bums who have no interest in working...

Fair enough, but doesn't the system already have mechanisms for identifying and penalizing bludgers? I'm not sure what drug testing does to get recalcitrant people back to work...or get them off the drugs, for that matter.

I remember a Liberal idea that I thought was superb. Howard may have been in charge.
Send long term unemployed over to WA for the mining boom.
But the lefties said "you cant tear families apart"
Well **** me. Give up 5 years of your life and return home and pay cash for about 3 houses and you are set for life....

Yeah, me too, not sure how it really operates in practice. I wonder if pensioners are part of it? If so, no more 'cocaine and canasta' nights at Eunice's apartment down at the Sunnyvales Retirement Village.

You could send them to the defence force. Even unskilled people can be given cleaning duties, cooking, laundry chores, driving, vehicle upkeep, maintenance etc
Keswick barracks, Oaklands Pk, the RAAF base at Edinburgh...
20-30 hours p/week - no show, no welfare.
2017 safooty NFL tipping champ
2024 champ, Spargo’s Good Friday Cup @ Ascot

Nah awarding a private company a contract for those services is a much more cost effective idea ;)

Such a simple plan from Mal T and his mates. SA is a waste land for thr Federal libs at the moment. So why waste the Federal $$$ when you can attack winnable seats in the Eastern states.

Then back in SA, your boys like Pyne just blame the local State government and call them incompetent as really they have already ****** uo so many times this will probably work. All you have to do is make up crap and the SA people are so over the State government that we dont care.

The Federal Budget explained. The Federal libs will do ok from this budget in SA by spinning crap. When really its cost them nothing.
