Is the strategy of the ALP to win the next election going to be to go to the election calling for a Carbon Tax?

Being unwilling to remove it suggests that its ALP policy and something the LNP will no doubt get plenty of use out of in the next election campaign. Nothing like handing yet another term to Abbott on a platter...

How did I know the anti Abbott brigade would try to blame the spying business on Abbott. What sort of an idiot seriously thinks this is something that's been done in the last 2 months? Indonesia are making waves because it's good domestic policy. There may well be repercussions but they know full well the change in government means it's not the current government's "fault" so it's going to be a hell of a lot easier to fix than dealing with the people in charge when it happened.

Yeah, its abbotts fault on the spying. The night he won the election he setup phone tapping with our neighbours as soon as he stepped off the platform announcing his win. Its all his fault for sure..............

Nothing to do with the flop Julia and the debacle of the labor party at all....

As prior to the election "what is so wrong with this great country"
The best country on the planet and the envy of many economy's
Low unemployment
Low inflation
Steady growth
Triple A rating
And a democracy that allows a circus like Abbott just for a laugh :D

If I were in Tony Abbott's place I'd be pointing out the reports I've read that it began in 2009 under guess who and that of course it will be discontinued under us. (The doesn't mean I wouldn't let it start again later much more discreetly if I thought there were good grounds for doing so. ;) )

He knows that he can't do that and get away with it. Phone tapping was occurring well before the Labor government came in. Ask lil Johnny about it. Edward Snowden just revealed the 2009 tapping.

'The tension between Australia and Indonesia began last month when documents revealed by the German newspaper Der Spiegel and published by Fairfax newspapers revealed that Australian diplomatic posts across Asia were being used to intercept phone calls and data. The Guardian then revealed that the DSD worked alongside America’s NSA to mount a massive surveillance operation in Indonesia during a UN climate change conference in Bali in 2007.'

Admittedly the personal phone tapping of the Indonesian President and his close network did not start until 2009 but the general phone tapping that initially upset him was happening prior to Rudd being elected. Remember that the initial event that upset President Yudhoyono was the general spying. This was prior to the personal phone-tapping being revealed. Yes, it escalated as a result but Yudhoyono had already stated that he would not support Australian policies at this time.

Cheers

It may not be so bad a policy. Unfortunately most of the community seem to think that the Liberal government were just planning to scrap the carbon tax and that was that. They did not seem to realise that it was being replaced by a nonsensical Direct Action policy where polluters were going to be paid to pollute. Once this happens, watch the mood of the electorate change somewhat.
Btw, most of the economists in the world now support an Emissions Trading Scheme, agreeing with the Labor policy.
Cheers

Senior Liberal Party adviser says Indonesian Foreign Minister looks like a 70's porn star:

Even Malcolm Turnbull thinks he should be sacked. Should do wonders for our relations with Indonesia
