He's bordering on deluional.

“One of the reasons why so many members of the team are able to perform so well is because they have got a very good captain,” said Mr Abbott

Well in fairness to the Libs and Tony before we go gang busters on the fact that he gave a knighthood to a duke as a massive issue as that must be for all. Lets have review a few numbers.

At the end of 2013 the Fed Government debt as a % of GDP was 27.16%. At the end of 2014 I believe it was around 20.48% but I think this figure may have been closer to October actually. Regardless it would show that the debt has been reduced a bit even without a majority of government policies not getting through the senate. Also keeping in mind that GPD increased 2.7% last year, hence the before and after % of debt are not as linear I guess.
What does this mean? Well the debt is getting paid off even with all the calls of “we can’t even pay the interest” and the normal scaremongering. It also means the Libs are doing ok, 2.7% growth whist paying down the debt is a good result. Of course the Libs want this debt gone by the next election as but that might be slightly out of reach now, but could still be done within 3 year possibly.

Just for reference:
Canada debt (% of GDP): 89.10%
USA: 106%
Japan: 227%
UK: 90.6%
China: 22.40%

While debt is not great at all, let’s keep it in perspective and also perhaps the current government while prone to foot in mouth or something silly at least have the country going ok.

Just my opinion of course, please don’t lose any sleep of this.

Just highlights that the 'debt and deficit disaster' was always an outrageous lie.

It doesn't mean Labor didn't waste billions, but in GDP terms, Australia has and continues to be in a strong fiscal position relative to other major countries.

The falling Aus dollar and subsequent increase in export revenue has been a major contributor to the decrease in debt ratio.

Funny how debt to GDP was never trotted out beforehand. Gross debt is still going up. But in reality it was never that bad.

Debt is never a problem until it becomes a problem
The problem at the moment is not the amount of debt but the exponential growth in debt
The joke is Labor bitching that debt is much higher under this Govt whilst opposing measures to bring the growth under control

The problem we all have is no Govt can do anything at the moment. Last Govt, this Govt, next Govt, and so on.
Abbott has brought a new meaning to hostile opposition and Shorten is doing the same thing.
Australia is going nowhere and probably wont for another 10 years until a proper statesman stands up and stops the rot in Canberra
A plague on both houses (of Parliament)

As I said on here a few years ago (during the last regime) when you have a minority Senate, you have to compromise to get what you want, which is what Labor did with the carbon tax. Then the opposition $hitbags them knowing full well they would have to do the same.

A good example of the parlous state of the current political system is the Coalition campaigned strongly to get rid of the carbon tax and won but Labor still opposed the repeal. The Govt did a deal with the PUPS that saw the SGL frozen. The Opposition blame the Govt but it was 100% their fault. Had Labor allowed what the Australian people voted for, the SGL would never have been an issue. The Australian people lose because of their stupidity.

At the moment, and for the past 5 years, both sides should be utterly ashamed of themselves. The lies, duplicity and deceit pervade Parliament House.

Australia desperately needs another Menzies or Hawke or the next 10 years are going to be hell. Unfortunately, I can't see anyone of that calibre in either side

It's not, but it's pretty obvious the electorate has a low tolerance of it and like to hold the incumbent to account for it.

:D, yes i know but some out there think tony is the only one who has ever lied to get his way into the PM position or other things!

I got told the other day again from someone here in QLD " Campbell newman lied to get into the premier position. First ever time any polly has done that this person said and i will be voting against him because of it" .
I nearly fell over in laughter when this person said it, and it was not like they were 18 straight out of school! It was a mid aged person who has clearly been around enough to know that ALL pollys ( whether or not some like it ;) ) LIE!!!!!!
