B Grade producing the goods this year.

Digger Thompson kicks 8 to get BBH over Saints in the biggest upset of the year.

As predicted by yours truly Min-Man got over a Ottens and Atkinsonless Blyth/Snowtown to remain in the top 2 race.

In the A Grade, BSR, Saints, Min-Man, RSMU all winners with no surprises.

We now go into another bye for Country Zone Champs.

Northern Areas has announced their squad for this weekends Country Champs. Nine players from the NEFL looks about right.

Only glaring omissions would be Jacko Lee (being managing an injury last few weeks), Ashley Bruce (hasn't played enough this year) and Dustin Launer (maybe due to a concussion earlier this year). Other than that think they probably have the pick of the crop from the NEFL. Luke Hayes maybe a bit stiff but that could be my BSR bias.

Charlie Riggs (Min Man)
Taj Nicholls (Min Man)
Will Pratt (B/S)
Alex Morgan (BSR)
Ryan Bruce (RSMU)
Lachlan Jaeschke (NC)
Matt Longbottom (BSR)
Matt Grigg (SC)
Anders McShane (Min Man)

Being someone who has only ever been involved in metro footy, do the players actually like and support these? Is there any penalty for not playing or making yourself unavailable. Assume the older blokes might prefer a week off and the younger guys want to play. Would be good to see Adel Footy League with a team or two so would need to not play for a week like the country leagues do, who seem to have lots of weeks off if you're not playing rep footy.

One of my lads was involved a couple of years ago when it was down in Victor, there's definitely an availability to it, as there are the rep games on the June long weekend.
Each side has to have 5 U21 players in their squad, so the carrot is there for young blokes.
Not sure if there penalties, they asked him to play again the following year but he'd already booked a holiday.

I guess the easiest way to explain the situation in the NEFL is they used to be aligned with Centrals but felt that NEFL blokes never got a fair look in against Barossa lads (example being Matt Longbottom came second in the SANFL reserves magarey medal, then the next year played back in the NEFL won the mail medal with a record votes but couldnt make the squad. Not a single NEFL bloke did)

With that in mind the NEFL is now aligned with the Northern Areas because players wanted the opportunity to showcase their skills.

So i would say there is a pretty decent take up.

Looking at the current squad as i mentioned there is only 3 who i would say should be in the squad but all 3 have legitimate footballing reasons as to why they weren't picked.

I believe yes if selected and refuse to play they have to miss the next club game; my understanding is though the coaches try and work with the club and ensure those scenarios don't happen

Back at it again this week after Country Champs....

Match of the round in both grades has to be Min-Man vs Southern Saints. In the A Grade the Saints have a chance to level Min-Man on seven wins and equal second place. On the other hand a win for Min-Man sees them two games clear and a decent amount of percentage, very close to wrapping up the double chance. I would expect the inform Min Man will get the job done.

If the Saints B Grade holds any hopes of sneaking into the top 2 then this game is a must win against a Min Man B Grade playing great footy. The Saints would need to be at full strength with the likes of Voight, Clarke and Schmidt playing to have any chance. With that said i cant see past Min Man who could be argued are flag favourites in the B Grade.

BSR have their first game at Grand Final Host Spalding this year and in theory should have a comfortable day in both grades against South Clare.

Blyth/Snowtown vs RSMU in the A Grade should be an absolute belter. B/S currently hold the fourth spot two wins ahead of the sixth placed RSMU but have stumbled a bit of late. On the other hand, RSMU have finally found their straps and will give themselves a big chance of victory here. In my opinion whoever wins here will take the fourth finals spot and i think that might just be RSMU.

Lastly North Clare vs BBH in Clare. The Roosters currently sitting in fifth in the A Grade but coming off a belting against BSR. With that said BBH havent showed too much in the A Grade and would need a turnaround of fortunes if they are to win. Surely North playing for their finals chances will get the job done in this one.

The B Grade should be a belter. North Clare were decent against BSR last game kicking the first 3 goals inside 5 minutes. Whilst they couldn't sustain it they showed their best footy is decent. The BBH B Grade is the shining light for the club this year and i would expect one or two blokes back into their b grade from the A's in what is a must win clash for their B Grades finals hopes. With that in mind i would expect BBH to get the win.
