Southern Eagles A graders that are playing in the B grade final should have a good hard look at themselves.

MOONTA'S DEAN CUTTING WINS YP MAIL MEDAL

MOONTA PAIR SCORES THE DOUBLE - Monday September 12, 2011

by Kenn Rogers

Moonta A and B grade players took out the 2011 League Medals for the Y P Football on Sunday at the count held at the Ardrossan Clubrooms.

Dean Cutting scored the A grade Medal in a thrilling finish to the count gaining the last three vote of the season to win the medal from star CMS Crows player Ben O’Donohue.

At the end of the first round Cutting led the voting with 13 from O’Donohue and Cam Faulkner of Kadina on 11, with Matt Millard of Bute on 10 votes. With three rounds to go O’Donohue had jumped away to what looked a winning lead on 23 votes whilst Faulkner had 19, with Adam Pitt of the Crows on 17, Cutting was 15 and Josh Lawson of Kadina with 14.

The final three rounds saw O’Donohue stall on 23, Faulkner stay on 19 with Adam Pitt, Dean Cutting and Josh Lawson all picking up votes. The final vote of the afternoon was cast with Cutting on 21, scoring three votes in the final game to take the medal with 24, ahead of Ben O’Donohue on 23. Adam Pitt and Josh Lawson were equal third on 20 and Cam Faulkner fifth on 19.

Earlier in the day Grant Keleher of Moonta scored a runaway win in the B grade with 23 votes to win his second medal in three years. Daniel Flowers of Kadinand Grant Wehr of Bute tied for second place on 16.

To cap off a good day for Moonta Dylan Mansell won the Phil Brand medal for the best Under 21 player.

Add to this the A T Ash Medal for the best player of the inter-association games went to Toby Haseldine of Moonta.

Well done to the hounds on Sat at Yorketown was a cracking game looked like they wanted that little bit more.

Thought Burnell & Lawson were good also Faulkner. Big Jono Lee would have had over 50 hit outs absoultey dominated the opposition "ruckmen"

Have to question Bute's move to have Nelson at Full Back on Searle. Moved him in the midfield in the last & nearly turned the match but was too late.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Someone said at the start of the season the Salis North imports wouldn't have much impact in the YPFL. Looks as though they must have done something good, they all made the T.O.T.Y.

Agreed, but i'm sure Moonta were thinking Premiership, not TOTY. Will they keep em next year, my mail is Sals nth are cashed back up and with the points system making clubs chase past players, cash is the only thinkg that cvan get them back, example = Gaza.

YOU BUTE..TY
Great stuff from my boys to win back 2 back. What a great footy club to be involed in. Supporters, players and all family involed in the Kadina Football Club. Bute making us really earn it this year. by beating us in the first final made the boys hungry for another win. On saturday we had to work really hard for everything with bute not lying down this year. This made to win all the more sweeter. By Nelson playing on Serle took alot of drive out of their midfield an then Lawson, Waller, Edwards could pretty much do what ever they liked. As Nelson went onball serle kicked a quick 2, so what do you do. The main difference in the two sides being contributers, the bloods had a good even spred in the end. Great stuff!

Was a good game to watch. While Serle might have kicked a couple in the last, Nelson also provided the drive that Bute needed and almost got them back into the game in the last quarter. As you mentioned Westy, contributors was the major difference in the game. Every time Bute looked like getting close Kadina answered with another goal. If Bute had more players contribute through the day we could have been in for a very tight affair rather than playing catch up footy. At the end of the day, Kadina were again too good on the day.

who agrees with this side anyway? far from it i think. Cant half tell that Old Man Zwar picks the team. For starters most of the back line are from sides that have the most scored againts. The bloods have the best backline by a mile and didnt get 1 in the side. Avery is the best CHB, Papps is the best CHF.
Millard as capt, thought it was a miss print. If he could pick a drop punt Bute might have won. Not a leader

Any early talk on coaching or player movements for next season? See Pasky are advertising for a new coach.

Will Bute hold onto all their players? Hosting the gf next year. What about the Salisbury Nth lads at Moonta will they be back?

I think the reigning mail medallist will be going on again with Moonta, not sure about the other 2 though...

Umpires resign after grand final accusations
Tuesday, 27 September 2011 13:51
JOURNALIST: Nick Perry
THE Yorke Peninsula Football League has lost umpires’ coordinator Lindsay Pratt and multiple Golden Whistle-winning umpire David O’Leary.
Comments made on social media sites after the A grade grand final suggested O’Leary favoured Kadina.
The comments were removed, and the person who initiated them has since apologised publically and personally, but not before they prompted O’Leary to resign last Tuesday.
About two hours after his resignation, Pratt — who said he copped verbal abuse whilst attempting to discipline brawling players from the sideline during the A grade game — also resigned.
YPFL president Brad Haylock said the grand final, in which the Bloodhounds defeated Bute by 20 points, was well officiated and the umpiring had no bearing on the final result.
He also defended the decision to select O’Leary, a former Kadina player, coach and life member, to officiate in the grand final match despite the chances he would likely become a target of spectator abuse.
For the full report, see the print issue of this week's YP Country Times.

This is hard to believe, seriously, Lindsay needs to have a cold hard look at himself if he has resigned due to this. Hopefully the next umpires coordinator can develop some positive umpiring culture within the YPFL...
