THE Yorke Peninsula Football League has lost umpires’ coordinator Lindsay Pratt and multiple Golden Whistle-winning umpire David O’Leary.
Comments made on social media sites after the A grade grand final suggested O’Leary favoured Kadina.
The comments were removed, and the person who initiated them has since apologised publically and personally, but not before they prompted O’Leary to resign last Tuesday.
About two hours after his resignation, Pratt — who said he copped verbal abuse whilst attempting to discipline brawling players from the sideline during the A grade game — also resigned.
YPFL president Brad Haylock said the grand final, in which the Bloodhounds defeated Bute by 20 points, was well officiated and the umpiring had no bearing on the final result.
He also defended the decision to select O’Leary, a former Kadina player, coach and life member, to officiate in the grand final match despite the chances he would likely become a target of spectator abuse.

I think you will find the real reason for Yappy finishing up, is that next year he will coach the B grade. Bute's bad sportsmenship was shocking. Calling the umps cheats and then the coach insulting us when he adressed the side after the loss in the grand final. Letting the play go is not cheating. Bute players were punching behind play then hiding behind Nelson. If it wasnt for Nelson and Avery bute might have lost all the respect.
Over the 4 games against Bute Kadina kicked 61 goals 59 to Butes 44 goals 40.
