Burgess was going to come back to Angaston but with his brother retiring and also he has good mates at hamley has decided to go back to the Bridge. Can find the goals and pretty sure he kicked 60 odd goals in one of the years he was out there to lead the assoc goal kicking list from a side that only won 1 game if any that year. In a better side and you would think seeing the ball inside the forward line on more occasions could be a handy inclusion for Sponge and the Bombers as he comes as a no pointer. Does have a mouth on him though!!

Bouncing Barry Burgess would be the best forward seen in the APLF since Ivan "The Kid" Silvy last left his mark on the competition.
Have also heard Burgess's older sibling will return too Hamley if they look like making the finals.

I heard Dave is ok at footy. You and him should have some good midfield battles when we play each other I reckon . Pretty sure Willy is playing at Kadina still.

Yes should be interesting, use to have some good drinkn sessions in town. We might be moving at the same pace, very slow

Nah, just think the blokes a gun. Did give some opposition fullbacks some headaches when he last played. Could possibly kick a 100 through the perpendiculars now he's in a better side.

Happy to see Hamley have signed Burgess. A handy footballer but more importantly he's someone that opposition teams supporters love to hate. He'll definately fire up the passions of all teams this year especially on this forum. Geez, if Ivan Silvy plays as well, then all we'll need is big Scotty McArdle to make a come back and this league will be a frenzy on saturday arvo's!

Last time I saw him play in the midfield, he struggled to get out of the centre circle he was so unfit. Time is passing him by I think.

Every bit of 'late 20's', has struggled for at least 3 seasons with fitness and was never the quickest even as a young bloke. His pace has always held him back even as a junior.[/quote]

Dave can play. Made a bad decision a few years back by not playing in a GF after being selected on the bench and since then probably hasn't taken footy all that serious. The guy still has it though, yes he hasn't got great pace but has a footy brain and knows where to go to find the football and is damaging when he has the ball. Obviously a few country sides see that he still has something to offer as he is chased at the start of each year. I know for a fact that both Hamley and Virginia in the APFL have had a carck at him in the past few years alone plus several other clubs. If he does stay fit will be a very handy inclusion for United this year.

I know this isn't footy related but still great news for the comp is that with at least 5 Netball Clubs having too many players for 5 grades, there will now be 6 grades of netball this season with the "A6" grade to be introduced.

Fantastic news I think and can only benefit every club with increased amount of people through the gate to lead to greater takings etc.

Good news for Mallala especially, they had enough women to fill over 3 away (extra) teams as it was, an extra team will please a few.
