Fantastic news I think and can only benefit every club with increased amount of people through the gate to lead to greater takings etc.

A much wider choice now MC, that must be a bonus! ;)

Doesn't help me much. I can still only choose from the same one. Won't stop me having a look though. ;)

Its not easy to get out of. Hasn't happened to us recently, but I know when I was playing colts the 2 Sharman boys didn't play much for us because they had to play for Trinity instead.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

As a past Trinity student myself, i have been through the problems with club and school footy. Back in the day i remember doing the dash from school footy to my club footy.
My parents too tried to get me out of it, using many (and what we thought were justified reasons) but the school wouldnt budge. Having said all that when parents enroll their kids to trinity they also sign them up to play the nominated sports, its a case of "read the fine print". The better the player is the less chance they have to get out of it also.

The situation is no different a league clubs. In the past the elite football colleges in Adelaide eg Sacred Heart, Rostrevor etc would only let their students play in the holidays. The only exception to this was if the student was playing league footy.

Happens everywhere, I think Trinity's policy is the player must be selected at Reserves of SANFL League level to avoid playing First XVIII.

But parents should know his stuff before they enrol their kids there.

What is the standard of college footy? I guess what i'm asking is, would the kid be developed better playing school footy or playing senior colts at a country or suburban level?

College footy is fairly high standard, especially in the top grade with the likes of sacred heart, rostrevor, pac, saint peters and st micks.

There woulds not be many players in these first teams that wouldn't play A grade in the APFL after school

First XVIII is a very good standard, especially Div 1, which would be on par with SANFL Under 18s I reckon.

Rubbish! I can't possibly agree with that call sorry mate. There would be plenty that wouldn't play in a top A grade side in the APFL, maybe not in the SH or Ros, but the other sides are not that great. Maybe your referring to the bottom sides in the APFL.

I can answer this. Having come form the school system, I can 100% say that if ur at a school like Sacred Heart, Rostrevor, St Mics, PAC the top footy schools you would want to be playing with them. Its a very high standard of junior footy if your in the top tier of school competiton. Top 10 kids in each top school team would make an APFL team. most of them are with SANFL clubs.

I agree with that, but not most of the team as suggested earlier.

In my last year of under 17's I was in the first 18 and I got out of it by saying there was no way in me getting to games in time with dad doing coaching committments.

HWE have cleared Twelftree from YP (don't know how I forgot him, think it was posted here a while ago), while also pending are Rudall recruits Tom Forrest and Fabian Dennis.
Don't know much about how good those two lads are, although Tom (18 or so) played key position forward for the Eastern Eyre league last year. Fabian Dennis (also about 18) was a handy junior from memory and his old man Mick was a good player.

*Updated from APFL clearance list.
