I hate umpires. :) And from my experience when playing B grade, I didn't think they could get much worse, but certainly Norm's suggestion has some merit. I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way... ;)

You are correct on the umpiring of U/17's, they should have quality umpiring, but where do you find them????
Not sure. I was talking to Will Hodgetts on the weekend and he said there are to many quality umpires for the A grade. So I suggested he gave them under17s games. He said they have been. I know we have him next week umpiring the 17s game against Two Wells.
I sincerely hope Hodgetts wasn't including himself in "there are too many quality umpires for the A grade" cos he's disgracefull

It would be a bit hard doing a 17's and an A grade game on the same day. Once you cool down and the aches start setting in it's hard to get going again.
I think the ball moves quicker in the 2's than the 17's, it's far more physical aswell. the Mallala vs Two Wells matches on the weekend appeared very physical in the top 3 grades.

Yeah, watched some of the 17's, 2's and A's. Good atmosphere, pretty healthy rivalry.

norm11 wrote:I coach the under17s at Hamley. I thought the quality of umpire we had on Saturday wasn't good enough. Everyone could see they were looking after the opposition, didn't help we still won by 10 goal. But it's not teaching anyone anything. Those kids will grow thinking when I get tackled by someone bigger I will get the free.
I just think that the 17s is prob the second highest standard of footy on a saturday and that it should have good quality umpires

Do you guys submit umpires reports?

well im not BB but sure was fun after mighty hounds took the bait on saturday night, he simply wanted to think i was BB and i accomodated him simple as that, i have never hid my identity on here. As someone else said all he had to do was a little research to know i wasnt BB.

I am an unashamed fan of BB though love the way he doesnt need to leave the goalsquare. Onwards and upwards for the bombers from here!
