Highly successful idea for the auction though, I think it raised ~$650 at Long Plains after the match. Any other prices from around the place? There were 2x pink netballs (A1 & A2s) flogged off too, along with one of Mrs MC's creations which fetched $75 (clearly under valued). In total I'd say they would raised close to a grand.

It felt a bit rough I reckon and seemed to swing in the air a bit more than usual. Watching the first quarter I noticed a few missed kicks but not sure if it was more noticeable just because of the colour. Seemed to get better as the game went on and was worn in a bit more. Certainly wasn't bad enough to warrant changing the ball over though.

Yeah both United and Mallala managed to raise just under $3,500 for the day to go to the worthy cause, like you said the footy fetched $650 after both coaches and captains signed it. I think 1 netball went for high $200's and the other for low $200's. We also had pink hats, shirts and stubby holders for sale with all profits going to BCNA.

If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Ours was swapped with a normal ball at quarter time. I think Hamley complained about it

Your kidding  , thats ordinary. I know what my response to that request would've been..........

It was a umpires decision as the ball was looking pretty ragged by that early stage. Pretty sure the hamley boys wouldn't have been complaining at all... Just going by the score board.

I believe it was only a 9 point game at that stage, unfair to bring that up

A couple of lads played in the A's for Hamley on saturday who have mothers that have fought and survived breast cancer. These inspirational women also watched the game. It was talked about by the players pre-game also. So the request for the ball change, whether from umpire or player, would have meant no disrespect!

It appeared to swing like a dunnie door from the sidelines...but that could have been been an illusion from the brightness of the ball.

A lot of comments afterward from spectators saying it was easier to see but this being my second game with the pink one, I'm sure they are lower quality training balls painted pink. Same goes for the pink sherrin.

well its coming to that part of the yr again soon with the association side to be named soon, the under 15s started sunday morning with a high turnout, many thanks to the clubs for making sure players came, the little coach was very pleased though whated to start the week before so to have mothers day off but was over ruled by the big bosses,so we had a couple of players say they cant play due to family reasons which we accepted, whats the rule going to be for A grade this yr.on other note was a bit dissapionted that all grades didnt wear pink armbands saturday as i know a couple of colts that wanted too for family but were told A grade only,i thought we where all the same,a great day well put on by united and go those pickle burgers.

The ball is in safe hands. It will be signed by all HB players and coaches from Saturdays game, mounted with an inscription of sorts highlighting the significance of the game for charity and will then be auctioned at the club.

We are just finalising how and when would be the best time to auction (at our clubs goods and services auction sounds most likely).

Hopefully we can raise a heap of money for the charity (a reserve of $500 will be set). I will let you know how it goes!

whats the deal with clearing players from one club to another within the league?
what i can read is that the only reason is if not financial, the "required player" clause / loop hole that clubs use just doesnt exist.
the APFL clearence section says nothing about intra club transfers only for players 16 and under.
it also says to refer to the South Australian Country & Metropolitan Football Council, which states nothing either.

No rules from what I know, the former club will eventually be forced into clearing the player if they don't in the initial stages, and then the player would be worth 3 points to his new club. The later usually slows the frequency of these types of transfers. I'll stand corrected if I've missed something here.

Can't say I've seen the bloke play yet. I have only seen him try and tip a winner at the pub. Wouldn't be hard for him to be a better footballer than a gambler!
