Rule 19.2.2 (i) in APFL Prescribed Penalties: Attempting to strike another person: 2 games.

Ask Peter Carey - reckon he missed a SANFL Grand Final for the same "offence".

Spoke to a mate of mine at Freeling last night about Maxy.
He ran water for us on Saturday.
Short, stocky midfielder. Pretty hard at it from what I've heard.
I think he was going to leave Freeling after last season but got talked in to staying.
Rocked up to Balak training a few weeks ago and I've only just noticed the clearance being lodged.
Played A grade at Freeling all last year too. Knows Aaron Cocks, given Cocksy was at Freeling for a few years too.
Top young lad. Looks likely. Gee there's gonna be some pressure on spots. Glad I'm not a midfielder!

Thanks for that, couldn't stay for the 1's on the weekend for the Rooster demolition had other commitments.

FYI Onsong we have Todd Thorne (SANFL) coming out for Auskick training Thursday night at 4 if you want to come over with a camera for some shots of our 50 or so little blokes.

Can not see Maxy being cleared by Freeling after the leadership group had a meeting last week. Maybe Max desn't have a problem with the club, all the hype may be coming from his old folks ;)

Why would the leadership group have anything to do with a clearance?
Unless there are financial issues, there's not much anyone can do.

Think you'll find he signed a contract at the start of the year, you may want to check this before getting to excited about him.

Max Doherty, despite being a local player, signed a contract at the start of the season, and was being paid... making him a restricted player.

No way Freeling are going to release the young man.

Word is he doesn't want to leave anyway, more his parents doing. If you go back a few weeks to a Freeling vs Willaston game; Might give you some idea as to why.

I'm not getting into the technicalities of it all. I think unless he owes the club money, I reckon the clearance must be allowed, otherwise the SANFL will clear him.

If he is under contract you can refuse the clearance.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

CONFIRMED!

Financial Indebtedness and Contractual Obligation

A player of an Affiliated League Club to who has no financial indebtedness (applies to Subscriptions for the players previous season played only) or contractual obligation to that Club must not and can not be refused a Clearance on any grounds.
The standard SACFL Leagues Playing Contract, in a form approved by the Board from time to time; will be the only contract recognised in the instance of any appeal where ‘Contractual Obligation’ is given as the reason for any refusal of a Clearance.

100% correct
However it must be a SANFL approved contract
If he is only under a Club contract then he can be cleared going through the appeal system by the SANFL (especially if he has re located)

Just sifting through the ladders from the past few seasons. It would seem that 8-10 wins is required to make the Top 4 by seasons end, I'm thinking 8 will do this year provided you have a good %.

Ladder After Round 9 P W L % PTS
1 Balaklava 7 5 2 63.71 10
2 Virginia 7 5 2 59.92 10
3 Mallala 7 5 2 55.19 10
4 United 8 4 4 51.42 8
5 Eagles 8 3 5 43.55 6
6 Two Wells 8 2 6 39.23 4
7 Hamley Bridge 7 2 5 37.13 4

I'm tipping the top 4 to stay as is, given United have 2 matches vs HB to come and HWE's % is terribly low. Both United (Davey, East, Kellet, McArdle, Vellejo, Chapman etc) and HWE (Hunt, Wilson, Young, Sharpe, Cowan, Manners, Lockwood, Reid, Hill, Light, Forrest etc) have had plenty of players out for a few weeks now, so I'm tipping a few upsets from these two teams in the second half of the year when they get back to full strength. HWE will need to pull of a few upsets

Yeah not looking promising on paper for the Eags, but with a 6-7 to return against Balak hopefully things will turn around. Early on with a full muster we knocked off Balak and Virginia, but have struggles with a string of injuries and limited depth, in particular in key positions. In the mix to return against Balak would be, Wilson, Young, Light, Forrest, Reid, Lockwood, Rowe, Sharpe, with Cowan and Manners out for a touch longer...
