I think this trend of the APFL having 2 or 3 players will only get worse if the league continues to play minor round matches on the Zone weekend. Wouldn't a week off like every other reputable country league in the state be a smarter option?  Our seaosn finishes a week earlier than everyone else as it is

yea - good call  - pretty sure there was only 3 selected because the rest of the league played - WTF! You been down the pub all afternoon Swamp?

and you think every other APFL player in the squad trained and made themselves available and only 3 were picked out of the winning Landmark Cup team, because they weren't good enough - WTF!! I'm surprised I didn't see you down there Jumbo :)

I was there mate, enjoying a few Vales.

If we had got the win the run home for 4th would of been a cracker with HWE and Longies. With the eagles getting better players back I reckon they could sneak in the four and do some damage.

HW Eagles 13.8 (86) def United 9.9 (63) by 23 points.
Virginia 9.13 (67) def Two Wells 9.8 (62) by 5 points.
Balaklava 14.14 (98) def Mallala 6.7 (43) by 55 points.

Things are heating up at the top of the table as UNDERthePACK sneaks away to a one point lead over second-placed Hazbeen. Swamp Donkey joins him in second place as well. OnSong, Woofa and Drop Bear all picked up a round high five points, while Mythical Creature suffered the embarrassment of recording the round low of one point, which affected Dr Pink, Old Son and Fog Horn Leg Horn, who failed to put their tips in (or I've missed them). Top work by norm11, who jumped off the bottom of the table with a sweetly timed tipping change.

I believe there has been a massive 5 page feature in the TW Echo printed for and distributed around Two Wells and Lewiston last week?

Heath Pym made not available by the board this week because he booked an overseas holiday in February for last weekend. He didn't even play for us so he was genuinely unavailable. How is he supposed to know when zone weekend is gonna be way back in February? The bloody draw isn't even finalised by then.

Absolutely ******* disgraceful!

It's only a guess but I reckon "Heath Pym made not available by the board this week because he booked an overseas holiday in February for last weekend. I agree with you MC - absolute disgrace.

So what about the other Assoc reps that never played Zone? Where are their suspensions? According to some on here quite a number were not picked because they preferred to play home and away footy.

I popped out to Virginia to have a look at this game, Nicklaus was clearly the difference at the end of the day, he was the only player that would go back and have a shot at goals with any confidence. So much so, when the game was in the balance, a Virginia player had a long dob, it would've cleared the goal line but Nicklaus had the confidence to take an overhead mark, he didn't get a lot of the ball but his efficelcies were exceptional.
Virginia wasted too many opportunities in the first 3 quarters where they'd just chip the ball up in the sanger zone, Two Wells then followed suit in the last quarter which cost them in the end. If the lad with tthe dreadies had of goaled after his gutsy pack mark running into trouble the result could've been different.
It was a gallant effort by Two Wells in front of Virginia's home crowd, they were getting pretty emotional towards the end, it was quite amusing from an impartial spectator.

Seccafien took that mark. He was a fair way out and with a wet muddy ball he was up against it. Our player dropped a mark from his kick aswell.

It appeared that he and many others before him panicked rather than go back and kick through it. It was a very courageous mark nevertheless and Two Wells had many contributors for the day. They played the better football for 3 and a half quarters, just couldn't build a substantial enough lead. Looked to have plenty of youth.

From the outside looking in at the APFL. It appears to me from results and the limited games I have seen that the league has really stepped up a notch this year in standard and overall quality. Would you guys agree?

Just looking at sides like Mallala which have not lost too many from last year, but are not quite as dominant as we might have expected them to be, although still being capable of beating everyone. Hamley have picked up some quality players (Pepe, Moody, Catterall) and although they have clearly improved, are still struggling against most sides because they too have stepped up and improved. Virginia seem to be really gelling well as a formiddable unit and Balak's mix of experience and high quality youngsters has seen them come ahead in leaps and bounds. Obviously longies, eagles and roosters are all capable also, and on their day can beat anyone.
