Reserves player nil, A grade C3 (if there is such an animal) would be 2 points.

Reckon I'll be safe booking holidays in early September Ace?

Safer than most Id say :D

You know the Roosters have won more finals games then the Eagles the last three years, reckon you'd be safe as well

Guess your right... but the 15 straight finals series prior to last year would suggest the old Eags know what they're doing ;)

OnSong, whats the plan for the Zone weekend next year? Is the APFL going to be the only comp not to take a week off for it again next season?

Is that OS? A change of heart by the APFL. What brought that on?

SO they should too. The CFL are trying to do everything right by all leagues and because there is not total cooperation we are left with a zone carnival. Give it some credence and no local footy so that country footy does get on show. Ideally it would be fantastic to have the Vic Country Footy model with Inter-Association but because we have the greed factor with huge dollars being paid to, usually, washed up mercenary has beens we can't have a interesting inter-league matches. It would be fantastic to see some sort of continuing comp with inter-association clashes. It worked in the early 80's. Bring it back. Maybe then we'd get a true indication of just how strong leagues are. Until then we need to support the zone championship model, even if there are only a handful, or less players unavailable in a given league.

Its about time common sense prevailed. The APFL was the only league to have played and we all wonder why only 3 or 4 players put their hand up every year  . It may seem weird for everyone to miss a week of sport for the sake of one footy carnival involving just a handful of our players but I think this move had to be made if we are ever going to take the zone weekend seriously in this league. Its pretty easy for people who never aspire to be or will never be selected to play zone to complain but seriously get over it, its one weekend in your life, go fishing or do something different for the weekend, you'll get 19 weeks of footy during the season to play or watch your local team.

If MH knew what it was like to play zone footy, perhaps he may have a greater passion for the event. ;)

Im with Mighty Hounds. I understand the league is forced to have the weekend off now, but its not just footy that stops its the netball too. Each club has roughly 80 footballers and probably around 70 netballers times by 7 clubs which is approximately 1050 players involved in footy/netty each weekend plus support staff. Then tell them all they HAVE to have the weekend off so that 4 really good players can play unobstructured by their clubs in a round robin tournament with 15 minute halves.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

It's a problem that isn't that difficult to survive. In some industries they call it creative thinking. We all take the Queen's birthday weekend "off" and for many these days that is so the netballers can play their country champs in Adelaide. Surely a bit of common sense thinking could be that on two weekends through the season there may be a round where there is footy and no netty and then when zone champs are on the netballers could play the round they missed. That is off course if it so important that association cannot afford to miss two whole weeks in a season!!!

You plains boys need to build a bridge. Over in the Western zone (current champions) they have 3 weeks a year set a side for rep footy.

In May inter-league matches used a a trial game for the inter-league carnival (Mortlock Shield played since 1936) on the June long weekend (netballers piss off to Adelaide for country champs).

Football country champs are in July so the seniors go to zone and the Western zone plays its u/17 carnival the same weekend.
