Virginia's new president Barry Flitter has taken an early step to encourage the local kids to get on board the junior footy teams, launching a public campaign this month to get the youngsters on board.

He has a genuine love for the game and his club, with a fair bit of business nous, not a bad move by the club to elect him.

I saw the add in the producer looking for junior numbers. Great idea to get the ball rolling early and I hope it works. Good stuff Virginia!

He should look at promoting in the schools from Munno Para through to Salisbury, it is an excellent league to be involved with and country footy has that special feeling to it.
The ovals are all of a pretty high standard, the hospitality is top notch wherever you go and the distance isn't really that far.

not trying to be funny or anything but speaking to a couple of parnets who i have tried to talk into playing out here is that alot of parnets around virginia, smithfield etc are on pensions and health care cards and the costs then come into it,like one said they can go to a sanfl game for $3 on there card, its just the way some think, the trouble today is sport isnt as cheap as when we where kids, well me anyway, and with alot of familys screwing down on there money it makes it hard, whats the answer i dont know but in the long run it will affect as all at one stage.

In the Barossa you only have to pay $2.50 to get into the footy/netty before 10.30am, not sure if that is the same as the APFL but was a great initiative to keep juniors involved. Also, I do understand that the Barossa is a bigger comp numbers wise and no where near the same travelling distances as that of the APFL but they have also included Friday night games for the real small kids which you obviously don't need to pay to get into, maybe another way to go. Just a few ideas and I know there will be pro's and con's for both.

It would be a bit of a hike getting to Mallala two or three times a week, Virginia isn't that far away. Virginia just need to make their junior program a little more attractive.

I don't believe it. Virgina surely can't fit him under their points cap.

Came from a pretty reliable source at the club. If this turns out to be another "Wally" I'll be pretty annoyed.

On a different note: Balaklava having a pre-Christmas run next Wednesday. Yay! Time trials!

They have signed a div one player thats worth 3 points. Ackland is worth 4. Can't see it unless they have lost players. If its true theres going to be some quailty ruckman going around next year.
