I was told by someone from BW that the players involved were going at it when the Bomber got Payney high, who threw his head back, like he "usually does". The BW player got a red, Payne got straight back up and continued the game.
They also said BSR threw out their fair share.

Seems there was a head count late in the game, too. BSR had 19.

Bsr never had 19.... in fact they

Payne got hit well off the play with a roundhouse fist from behind.... biggest punch ive seen landed in 20 years.

Just repeating what I was told by a player.

Biggest dog act I've seen on a footy field since the king hit at Lyrup 2 years ago! No where near the play and Payney had no chance to even see it coming! If you hit a bloke like that in a pub you would be facing jail time! Let's hope the league is strong enough to show there's no place for gutless acts like that on a footy field! As for Payne throwing his head back like he "usually does" maybe that's because week in week out he puts up with piss weak hacks taking cheap shots at him when ever they get the chance! The blokes a champion and hard as nails, gets up every time and plays on!!
The fact the coach apologized for the incident goes a fair way to show how low it was... Not to mention their supporters that mentioned at the bar how disgusted they were.
And the count - result was actually 17 men on the field for BSR.....

See a Barmera player has been reported for striking but didn't get a card of either colour. Surely if a player is reported its worth a yellow at least & if it wasnt worthy of a yellow surely its not a reportable incident??

I think it was a boundary umpire report, hence no card.

What I don't understand is how players can get yellow cards for striking.
If you strike someone, surely you should get a red and have to front the tribunal.

I wouldn't say Payney throws his head back alot, but he does get a lot of free kicks that probably aren't there. He certainly isn't alone in that in our comp.
But he is also one of the fairest players going around and does get a lot of 'attention' from the opposition each week. Can't imagine there'd be too many mornings where he wakes up without feeling like being hit by a truck.

The amount of free kicks he gets is probably proportionate to the amount of footy he gets in my opinion... He has no control over the standards of umpiring.

On the "attention" he receives the thing I find funny is that after all these years so many players/teams haven't worked out yet that it doesn't affect him in any way! He usually gets up shakes it off- has a laugh at how piss weak they are and goes on to rake up the touches!!

Spot on and I wasn't having a go at him. All he can do is go out and get the footy. Which he does A LOT of.

Find it amusing that the Lox .Nth player who cracked the Barmera player after he had kicked the ball wasn't reported, was a pretty cheap shot, it's the old story, the bloke who retaliates is the one who gets caught :?

Dart - 1 match, but suspended sentence.
Hyde - 3 matches, with one suspended.

Probably.
Tribunal rarely gives out big sentences these days.
The whole idea of a suspended sentence is a load of rubbish IMO.
