Someone will be able to confirm with Hardie or Wildbore is in or not as I can't remember exactly.
Sorry if some incorrect info, did it mostly from memory.
All players in squad who did not train tonight and weren't selected will be suspended I hear. Injured or not.

What happens to the guys that didn't attend training but got picked for this weekends games? Do they serve their suspension after they've represented the league this weekend? You wouldn't think so? It's ridiculous to think the league are happy to continue picking guys who dont want to play. Some have made that pretty clear by not attending trainings yet still get picked.. The league then go and suspend non selected players for not attending trainings cos they're injured or make themselves unavailable to play through work or pre-booked holidays.
This is not sour grapes at not being selected. But more so me being annoyed at not being able to go on an interstate trip for this long weekend cos the league threatens to suspend players like myself if we dont attend compulsory trainings and make ourselves available for a game I'd rather not play in!!
Also.. If all the players in the training squad were fit and were at training last night there would have been something like 43 guys vying for 23 spots (and the the selectors no doubt already had their team selected regardless of how u train)
So that's 20 guys who come out and train and put their weekend plans on hold to find out 2 days before the game that they havn't been selected.. How about the league cut the squad down as the game nears so guys not in the frame to play don't waste their time attending compulsory trainings thinking 'I better come to training so I don't get suspended'
If selected I obviously would have played, But if given the option I wouldn't have made myself available and had the week off.. Just my 2cents worth..
Anyways.. Good luck to the boys this weekend and hope u guys make it 2 wins from 2 games..

Always good to read a THACHY_7 rant/story spot on here mate, in Lincoln we have just had our association game three weeks ago which was very understrength side from what a full side would look like and the result showed as Great Flinders pumped us, a lot of blokes ' unavailable', 'got a wedding', "injured", league picked the best available side from players who WANTED to play, we may not have got the biscuits but i think when you put a side out that WANTS to play, then everyone is there for the same reason. No suspensions occur over here although there is plenty of talk that it should occur. This week we have Mortlock shield and Lincoln splits to two sides City and Districts, from a City point of view again some blokes 'unavailable', 'injured' 'dont want to play'. I think you have to accept you will very rarely get a full strength side out on the park for association, people have legitimite reasons to miss a week when there is no club game, considering you sign up to play for a club and not the league (it maybe in league constitution, that you have to play), I believe the players have some right to have a weekend off if they wish to.

I agree, but I think you are the lucky one. You train, don't get picked in a game you don't wanna play, have the weekend off and can't get made "unavailable for selection" next week, so you don't miss out at all. Gotta be happy with that.

Alternatively, you could be an overweight, unfit spud like myself and not have to worry about it in the first place!

Might just cop the suspension next time and book a 2 week holiday mid year ;) :finga: :drinkers:

I think khan Leighton is in that team to OnSong.

That's right, he is, I don't think one of Wildbore or Hardie made it in the final 23. I can't remember though.

Spent alot of time on the bench and when he came on he played in defence.
Probably not a A grader but with so many unavailable he got selected.

I disagree, if he got rid of a certain aspect of his game he'd be a very handy asset in the A's, has a lot of courage and can play a shut down role in defence.

I heard a few injured players at least made the journey out to training, you would assume if they made the effort and were tested and proven unfit (u would hope this would happen given the suspension rule) that they would escape suspension.

Good to hear a players point of view, how did the other 3 Hamley boys take missing out after training?

Good representation from the Roosters given where they were positioned last year, show good signs for the club

We know this is a ****** concept and poor blokes that just want a week off cop a weeks holiday. Yorke peninsula league ask anyone who wants to play can train and we will pick the best available side. It's a joke.

Thats why they get spanked every year.

North Eastern have apparently adopted the same rule as the APFL in that its compulsory to play and if your not available for whatever reason, then you're not able to play for your club the following match.

That's right, they don't get suspended.

But all the lads who rocked up and did not train last night, or did not rock up at all, and weren't selected, will be suspended.

At a count, we're looking at:

Kirk Heberle (HB)
Adrian Mills (U)
Dylan Cicolella (HWE)
Shaun Light (HWE)
Liam Whitwell (M)
Rob Montgomery (M)
Jonathon Brice (B)
Tallan Leighton (TW)
Simon Feast (TW)
Brendon Niklaus (V)

Full on hey?

And SD is right, NE are taking it extremely seriously this year.

Nope, the rule is clear-cut.
Don't train, for what ever reason, you're out for the week after
Sorry for the gore, but this will illustrate the rule.

Jonathon Brice badly dislocated his finger against Hamley.
His hand was heavily bandaged and had stitches in his finger still.
Rocked up to Mallala and still got a week.
Admittedly, he would be hard pressed to play against TW the week after but rules are rules I guess.

They'll improve their position on the table by seasons end, they'll be in a logjam between 2nd & 4th, I'll predict round 18 will decide who finishes 2nd.

I had one of them, that bone poked out and not a drip of blood, the other two bones just dangled inside the skin, I can now pretty much spin the two end bones right around on my pinky so my fingerprints are on the same side as my backhand.

From the league Constitution.

Rule 5 c) Any player selected to play in any inter league match or matches who neglects or refuses to train or play in such match or matches will not be eligible to play there next club match. This only applies to A and reserves players over the age of eighteen (18) years.

Any truth in the rumour Adrian Mark may have strained his hammy at training last night.

Heard at lunch someone else may have to fill a vacant fullback position. :ympray:

Please, just be a rumour!!!!

They are suspending guys who were named in their leagues best 43 players who missed out on being named in the final team. Hardly a reward for the guys that made an effort to make themselves available or make the trip to training to prove they are injured..
Hypothetically speaking they could have already settled on their 23 players for this weekend a month ago and make the following 20 attend trainings with little to no chance of cracking the 23. The 20 other guys then get injured and in turn get suspended because they can't train. The guys that aren't injured and cant train due to work or other reasons make themselves available for the game but don't get selected and get rewarded with a suspension also..
Really makes being selected in the 43 man squad worthwhile..

Could be a bit technical here but reading Rule 5 C, the word "match" seems to be the key point. I would read this rule that if a player is slected in the team, not the squad. So if selection was Thursday night and they name lets say, 22 players, if one of those 22 players doesn't play, they would be not eligible to play the following week. The rule doesn't say "anyone selected to train in the squad for selection in the association team". Maybe I'm looking too deeply into it. But, for the good of the comp, who wants blokes missing out on playing the week after the landmark cup. No-one.
Good luck to all on Saturday

OnSong do you have a confirmed list of those players suspended for this weeks matches due to being unavailable for association selection/training?
