Commemorations were held in the morning (pre sunrise until the end of the march, around 11.00am). Following the march, sport events were arranged, okay AFL was most probably not one of the sports played but seriously..
I agree, but I'm pretty sure that's not what MC was on about.
Swampy and lighining - In fairness to previous posts, none of them had said we shouldnt play sport.
reflecting back to when I played football, years ago now, the Anzac round that didnt directly conincide with the 25th didnt have the same feel about it as those which did. This being said, it would be a brave league to say they weren't having an Anzac round as traditionally it has always (with in reason) occured. It would take an even braver person to tell the SAAFL that they can not have the number of Anzac games that they did, it would be like telling a team/division/player (possibly a family member of a return service man/women) they are not worthy because they arent of a high enough level of sportsman. I am not saying it is correct to have the games being played days after the formally recognised day, im just putting the scenario's out there.
your feedback is welcome and im sure it will be forthcoming.
