Commemorations were held in the morning (pre sunrise until the end of the march, around 11.00am). Following the march, sport events were arranged, okay AFL was most probably not one of the sports played but seriously..

I see what you're saying stork, I'm more referring to all the ceremony happening on a day which isn't actually Anzac Day.

Good to see Big Nath Flynn finally turning a game on its head for Hamley Bridge. Also young Win Thach following his big bro's lead and getting a bit of leather poisoning!!!

I agree, but I'm pretty sure that's not what MC was on about.

Swampy and lighining - In fairness to previous posts, none of them had said we shouldnt play sport.

reflecting back to when I played football, years ago now, the Anzac round that didnt directly conincide with the 25th didnt have the same feel about it as those which did. This being said, it would be a brave league to say they weren't having an Anzac round as traditionally it has always (with in reason) occured. It would take an even braver person to tell the SAAFL that they can not have the number of Anzac games that they did, it would be like telling a team/division/player (possibly a family member of a return service man/women) they are not worthy because they arent of a high enough level of sportsman. I am not saying it is correct to have the games being played days after the formally recognised day, im just putting the scenario's out there.

your feedback is welcome and im sure it will be forthcoming.

As far as the SAAFL is concerned, it should be reserved for the two promoted teams each season except for Division 1 where it should be exclusive to the two sides that played off in the previous Grand Final, this should be the same for country leagues IMO.
ANZAC Day is a sacred day and it bears more importance to me than any other Public Holiday, I'd prefer to keep it to the traditional actual day for an important match.

Any word on the association coach for this season, given Andy Michael has taken the Central Zone job?

I'd say no, but I've never discussed it with him. I'd highly doubt it.

Well, the weekend's results threw the tips out of whack - badly.
High scores of three points went to Nocyrils, hanno_7 and FlyBug$, all Hamley lads and all pulling a point back on the competition.
They pulled back three points on Mythical Creature, whose United tip cost him two very valuable points, which I'm sure he's shattered about.
Overall leader is still Hazbeen, although with Hamley's victories, Nocyrils and hanno_7 have gained some ground in recent weeks.

TW 40+
Mallalla 1-39
HB 40+

If bombers keep playing like last weekend I'm tipping Taylor for the mail medal and Hamley to go DEEP into September

Taylor no chance. to mouthy. hamley not getting a head of them selves its early stages. a lot of hard work still to be done . they need to hold this form through out the year and not just for a couple of weeks.

Perhaps it didn't eventuate, I don't know. I know there were medals presented at Virginia (Robertson) and Balaklava (Adam Turrell).

Considering the other two games had an anzac medal it's a little disappointing the HB v TW game didn't have one awarded.
I know Craig Taylor was disappointed. He said to me straight after the siren and I quote 'they better start engraving my name on this medal'
