Far too many players in the squad though. Gonna end up being in the mid 40's by the time you put the Virginia guys in.

If I was coaching, I'd have a similar size squad. There will be blokes that will get injured and cant play between now and then. Last thing you want to be doing is ringing blokes on the Thursday night before the game. It happens every year! Also when 12 blokes ring up and cant train, you want more than 18 on thre track to get some value out the night.

Kind of agree, a squad of 30 would've been ample, there will be plenty of players driving to training knowing they are wasting their time.

What if you're player number 47 in the squad though, and you can't make training cause of work reasons, Uni etc. and you get suspended even though you were never gonna play because there are 46 players to be picked in front of you. Thats the guys that I feel sorry for, and by reducing the squad size there is less of a chance of this happening.

But, no system is perfect.

Glaring omission. He did win the medal last year correct?

What are people's thoughts of how the actual lineup taken to Jamestown could look like?

The last 4 times Mallala and Hamley have played Joel has (without even exaggerating) averaged over 40 touches per game. The Ranga can seriously play!
As I said last year, squad numbers should get reduced. Either right from the start or atleast closer to the final team selection.
Much like the SANFL state team selection. Don't need 40+ guys to choose from on the Thursday night before the association game.

I can still have an opinion, I have seen them twice this season and more often than not reputation plays a big part in selection.
