I think both go alright.

Khan Leighton was best U21 last year. Starred throughout the day. Rimmer didn't get picked. Glaring omission. Trained both nights.

Yeah but who you gonna take out for him. You could make a case for 10 guys but you have to take somone out of that side. Maybe take Faulkner out for Rimmer, then there is less chance of any tigers getting injured!

There's a few blokes who either didn't train, are clearly not fit/injured or don't have an interest in playing you could take out of there. Mind you, it would be interesting to see a side with only voluntary players getting a gig.

It's a strong list of names. How many withdrawals etc we will see before tomorrow will be interesting.

That's my point - so many are injured. It's great list, but who is gonna fill spots if others not picked are injured, or now "off the hook".
This is the problem of picking the best if they're injured.
And Greenshields and Nietschke will be fine if they get a chance - consistent players all season so far.

And that's the thing about these sorts of thing, they aren't voluntary, but definitely should be. To pick guys who didn't attend any of the trainings, or even return phone calls, is just ridiculous. But hey, that point has been done to death, and will always be an issue whilst the compulsary rules are in place.

I think form is definitely a thing for opinion too. There can be no doubting that form should be a great factor when picking these teams, however, when we talk about form do we just speak of how often they are in the best players for respective teams? If so, would the form of someone getting best each week for a team being belted, be different to that of a player getting best player in a top side? It is just a matter of opinion.

I think with each year there is going to be debatable selections, but that is half the fun right? With each coach and/or selector, brings a difference of opinion of a player... To state that there is exactly 21 players better than everyone else in the league would be another thing up for deabate, similarly like there is when Team of Year is selected, but one would hope that those picked are certainly 21 that are deserving!

should there not be a list of emergencies "IN CASE" of a late withdrawl, non attendance or perhaps an injury etc etc and in turn told to be at the game "IN CASE" they are required to play??

Who are you referring to Hotspur?

I think Skip summed it up well. There are plenty of variations to the selected 25 that people could quite reasonably argue for and against.

I can see great points from both sides of this arguement and its one that will never make everyone happy. Have to say that Andy Michael has always pushed to pick the blokes who want to be out there and not necessarily the big names and I think that's been the secret to his winning ways the last 3 years but will find out if choosing the injured and uninterested players still works. Really looking forward to watching Big Nik run around at this level that's for sure.

I wonder if the ypfl have that suspension rule forcing blokes to play in association. Because looking at the team they took to the carnival I'm suggesting not. No big names, none of the big named imports.
