The winner of two wells v Virginia gets a 14 day rest before playing the loser of Mallala v Hamley who will be coming of a 7 day rest. Assuming both games are hard and physical the extra 7 days rest could prove to be decisive.

wow didnt know the finals system had changed from the last few years which can be seen as a bonus for both clubs as not only can the loosers go to the Balaklava cup but the winner as well seeing they will be having a two week break betwwen games, im tipping a record crowd at the track next week

Finals benefits the winner of each final. The winners get a break whilst one loser is eliminated and 1st or 2nd get the second chance. Makes for a big clash in both spots, I'm sure 1st and 2nd would want the break for the gf. Some say it'd be better to play leading into the gf but that also comes with injury risk.

Want any benefits from it. Simple. Win

I understand that the top 2 get rewarded with a double chance and some may think that is a sufficient reward for finishing 1st and 2nd. But assuming Hamley lose and Two Wells win, it's the teams that finished 1st and 3rd that are being rewarded most with the extra rest. It can't be changed now but it might be something the league could look into. Because a team coming 1st or 2nd and losing shouldnt be disadvantaged against a team coming from 3rd or 4th.

I did hear that big Red won't be continuing as coach next year Thachy regardless of what happens from here on in this season. By all accounts, he had always said that he was only willing to do the job for two years to get the club back on its feet. Luke McCabe and Mark Good the likley replacements?

Maybe we should have an automatic exclusion system, kinda like a melded McIntyre/Duckworth-Lewis system that could work like:

1st v 2nd plays off for GF birth. 1st goes through regardless of the result because they finished top and the game actually winds up early if it rains (to prevent injuries)

3rd v 4th plays elimination. 4th gets eliminated regardless of the result because they finished 4th, not 3rd. Like in the West Indies, the game would continue beyond nightfall because the host club needs the bar to remain open.

Prelim. 2nd plays against 3rd. A big tussle to see who will automatically lose to 1st next week. In this system, 2nd always wins.

GF. The big one. 1st wins this because - well, they finished first!

The league could always follow the RMFL and have a 5 team finlas system so the only team to be rewarded for their finishing position is the top team who get the first week off, any team from week 2 onwards earns their advantage.

The reason I say RMFL and not the SANFL is because they also only have 7 teams.

I for one think it is silly to have 5 teams play finals in a 7 team comp and don't like it, but it is the better of the finals systems and is an argument against some current complaints.

Taking the Mickey!!! Deadly serious mate. In fact I'm off to see my resident footy club president to have this put up at the next AGM.

Some other benefits I see are:
Takes the pressure off the umpires screwing up a last minute decision that changes the result.
Clubs can pre plan their mad Monday based on the ladder position
Teams in the GF can build bigger banners cause they'll know a few weeks out

I understand the SANFL already has a software program that can calculate the impending winner (as per the system) no matter what the actual score.

Hopefully they'll call this system "The Lame Choice"!!

Won't be long until they finally catch up to Jason though. That man is ripped as, it can't all be natural.

I also hear one Bridge player might be spending some more time on here after getting his Facebook account deleted. He allegedly told Mark Zuckerberg that his match payments were worth more than Zuckerberg's fortune. This upset the Jewish lad and now Thach's social media empire has crumbled. One would think his inability to poke might affect his finals performance.

Do peptides have the same effect on the male appendage as anabolic steroids?  explains a lot if so.
