Balak have some ripping senior colts players, who really are quite dominant at senior colts level - they always do. I find it quite bemusing that guys like Charlie Arbon who made his A grade debut in 2013 and kicked 4 in an A grade match last season, Jacob Butterfield (times in best - 14; goals - 54 in the colts in 2015), Jake Michael (TIB - 11), Dillion Michael (TIB - 10) etc etc, I could go on.... seemingly being held back to play in the Senior Colts to maximise their chances of winning a senior colt flag, rather than being given game time in the A grade which would undoubtedly benefit and fast track their footy development. These kids have played 4 A grade games between them in 2015 and I just can't understand why, particularly when the A grade has won just 5 matches. Obviously there must be good reason (I'm sure a couple of them may not be physically ready) and the coaches involves have good intentions for these kids, but for me, I'd want to be developing them into A graders as soon as they show a bit. In fact, if each of these lads had played 4-5 A grade matches this season, imagine their confidence levels in a senior colts final. Anyway, just my opinion of course and each club to their own.

Perhaps they want them to get more meat on their bones? Charlie was pretty lightly framed when he debuted, as were Curnow and Coombe from Longies, it's all good getting games into them but can be detrimental if they get chucked around too much in their first few games.
No matter how talented a kid is, it's always a worry stepping them up to senior level, most you'd rather skip the reserves but they have the rest of their lives to play senior footy.

I get that part for some kids that a tiny. But in the main I disagree. This is the Adelaide Plains FL - kids are not going to get smashed up. Has Charlie Arbon not grown since 2013?

We're all for giving kids a go when they're ready. There's various reasons why some lads haven't played as much A grade as we would have hoped.
Butterfield declined several offers to play A grade (don't know why but you don't get asked too many times after knocking back these opportunities), Charlie has nursed a broken foot injury for most of the season, Jake Michael is awaiting a shoulder operation at the end of the season, forceful physical contact could easily dislocate it again, Dillon has played two A grade matches and seven reserves matches, happy with the way he's tracking. Jacob Wehr also played an A grade match against United but is away at college.

It has only been the latter part of the year where we've decided to hold the guys who could play senior footy back a bit. As LM said, they'll play plenty of senior footy when their time comes. So there's pretty valid reasons why. If they were all fit and available, I absolutely agree that getting games into them would be a good thing.

I haven't seen him this season I was purely speculating, one of the most talented juniors I've seen though, the APFL has been blessed with enormous talent in the junior ranks over the few years in which I've been involved out there, from all clubs.

Have finished in the Top4 the past 6 years I reckon so yes they are good.

Congrats to Simon "Lurch" Schulz who plays his 250th tomorrow. Massive achievement from someone who has given (and still giving) so much to the club over a very long period of time. They don't make loyalty that he has shown anymore, hopefully we can upset Hummocks tomorrow and get a win for the big Lurch!

Yeah, they are always around the place come finals.
This group of blokes has played a lot of footy together, barring a handful of lads, plus the improvement of some others and some injected pace.
The Rams are a very good side but there isn't much between them, Two Wells and Mallala, and I wouldn't suggest HWE are just making up the numbers either. Funny things can happen in an elimination final.

Pretty interesting finals series really, those top three sides especially play an exciting brand of footy when they're up and going.

Like Giddy Up said, they have been in the mix for a flag for at least the last 6 years and really were expected to have won at least 1-2 flags during this time. This hasn't happened and now every year in which a flag passes them by the pressure continues to build - particularly from a couple of their major sponsors. This season they have done well to cover the loss of Howell. The additions of Pollock and Ross have added a lot and maybe these two will prove to be the difference this season - I hope not :D .

Word around the Yorke Peninsula from the YP Presidents meeting is that all for Hamley Bridge, not going on in 2016,

Just so sad. so I guess last game for the club tomorrow.

I was thinking the same thing, maybe if it was March 2016 I'd have given it some credibility.

I can understand the speculation perhaps, but it would be things like this that don't help their cause. Bombers will be angling to be back again in 2016 for sure.

Allow me to explain my source...During the week the Community Football League Directors had a meeting with the clubs up here to talk about the cap, Hamley was spoken of, and the Community Football League blokes according to the people from my club said "there's a fair chance they wouldn't be around next year"

Personally I hope that not the case...just what I heard at training last night.

I am not trying to kill them off, just repeating what I heard was spoken about at the Community Football Meeting up here during the week, maybe just maybe the Community Football League is thinking all this Salary Cap stuff was mainly due the management of Hamley...or is this utter crap as well.

That is definite crap.
That's just people looking to lay the blame for something they don't like but which was in train well before Hamley collapsed.

Sorry, maybe I was a bit too harsh. I understand there are rumours out there but this sort of thing can greatly affect recruiting or even securing the same players for next season, which is what happened with half their netball players.
