I think Compass are the most interesting club at this point. By all reports the mallee boys are gone as well as some known local performers but nothing much in the clearances so far apart from some very good inclusions. If they hang on to the so called departures they will be more dangerous the last year.

Righto Lads, i go away for a day or two and all of a sudden i read through and im copping it!!!

Ryan Griffen at the Saints, Portlock getting flogged by Brown, 5 leaving the creeks and the good old points system that everyone except Willunga and 1 Victor delegate voted in has caused some controversy already.

If you can appeal the system all the time whats the point of having it in the first place. I agree with GA and basically the points system is there, recruit more than ur allocated points and then ur recruits have to perform otherwise its 1230 footy the next week. Sounds cut throat and a little odd (that ur best players cant play due to being worth too many points) but its the rod the league made for its own back.

I just hope that we dont see sides playing 3 senior colts that arent ready or in fact up to the standard to keep their points down.

Im very interested to hear this blokes name from Pemborke LF, only because I played against them only a couple of years ago, fast moving side but none the less a typical college team.

BJ I've missed you....

In terms of clearances, things are a little slow. Baylis should've been first cab off the rank but still hasnt gone through - maybe he's having second thoughts.... Its never too late to come home Jason, if it is then we've always got till June 30th...

What are the apparent outs for Compass? Braidwood? Schmidt? Possbily only a part-time role played by burdett due to South committments (if true)?

Another definate out that hasnt popped up yet is King, this could also be due to him being yet to sign back in Vic.

Yeah Braidwood moving up to Qld with Eats will be a couple of big outs as well the possibility of Burdett playing at South Adelaide.
Another big out I heard for Langhorne Creek is Tim Rogers, so slowly the Creeks seem to be losing players...

I hear a fair bit on here that Tim Rogers is out for the creeks, either everyone that I associate with at the creeks is in denial or people on here are hearing allot of shit and posting it!

I gotta admit the only place I've heard any suggestion of Tim not playing for the hawks in 08 is on this forum.. I'm not sure how or where this rumour started. Tim got engaged recently and he's probably got things more important than footy on his mind at the moment. I'm pretty confident he'll be fired up for footy once the season gets closer.

Rogers had a huge season in 07 and by all reports has already knocked back offers from Bordertown to Hahndorf to play in 08. Be surprised if he is not at the Creek in 08, although the Hawks are losing a good player in Porter. He was tough and was chased by a few HFL clubs for 08. Very quiet at the Creek and King's clearance is yet to come through? Bailey and Scmidtt all playing at Compass with Burdett weighing up a contract to play at South. If he signs then he is gone, but the chance of a flag with Compass is a strong lure to play in the GSFL, just ask Portlock.

Compass have a 1 in 10 chance of winning the 08 flag.

Like every side FM. But unfortunately while Willunga are in the GSFL competition every team has less chance the normal odds suggest. No losses and only gains is not what the comp wanted, while every other club has lost to some degree. What is the side that will stand up to the might of the demons in 08? Can't really see one, it might be one of those years they had a few years back when they went through thrashing everybody!

It will be interesting to see who are the top three this season, at the moment i would have thought Willunga, Creeks and maybe Strath. I know their is alot of talk about the creeks loosing a few but they will have a few new faces come season start and they still have quality. They did go through 6 or 7 games in the last half of last season with out King and come up against the likes of willunga and still managed to defeat them.

We cant do anything about the points system now, other than alter it in 2009. One thing that must and should've happened is that clubs should be ranked in scale from grand finalists to wooden spoons, having sides outside the finals on the same points as those taking part makes absolutely no sense, further more having the premiere and runner up is also not right. Not many clubs have a mass exodus after a premiereship nor does the runner up.

In terms of 08, personally I cant wait for the challenge of playing Willunga - just matching it with them will be an accomplishment but they are human and will bruise, bleed and injur just like the rest of us. Its also very important to remember that we all react differently under pressure.

At the Bays we believe that every side in the competition is capable of keeping us out of the five therefor no week will be different. My hat goes off to my local boys to date, they are training the house down and by all repsects are fitter than last year which will keep us consistantly in games longer.

Kappars what can you tell me about the movements at strath mate?

Agree Creeks will pull a rabbit out for sure, if Compass dont lose too many and keep their heads on straight they will be around the mark. Strath will be on even par with them but you are right, very interesting top 3 more so even top 5.

To go out on a limb, I think the top 5 will see atleast two different clubs from 07 - 08.

Some big gains in Demonland in the off season. Willunga considering imposing a points system of their own. A weight watchers points system.

I am starting to think we all need to start worrying about Mt Compass. If they have lost very few then they will be a force. Their pick ups to date are all very handy. Good to see you giving the locals are wrap FM. Got to have a good group of local lads otherwise its pointless recruiting.

It's great the Bays are finally looking at their kids. They haven't done it for years and last season was a case in point when against Willunga there were 8 locals in the starting 21. They were the talk of the league with the clearances and it was all for the wrong reasons. A whole side was cleared in. Good to see Bassani has sat back and sussed out that the local boys are as good as any division 3 footballer.

Not what I heard - they're still up to their old tricks by the sounds of it.

I work with a bloke who plays saafl div 3, is a fringe 'a' grade ruckman who told me EB rang him on the weekend offering him up to $500 a game. can anyone around EB elaborate?

doesn't look like Bassani has sat back for long!!
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.
