Doesn't appear so :-??

Round 12 Tips

Bays are Gonzo for 2021 if they cant beat Victor. Bays by 8 points which means Victor are certainties ;)

Strath have been in good form in recent weeks and have certainly staked a strong claim for Finals action whilst the Creeks wont want to let this one slip to stay in contention for top spot. With both teams likely to have a handful of key players missing through injury and work, Creeks should be able to cover the gaps better and with their remarkable conversion rate in front of goal recently, 83% (53 - 11) they should prevail at home by 6 goals

Willunga and McLaren should be a cracker with the result going a long way to deciding a top 3 spot and the crucial double chance. Willunga looked to be a monty for Top 3 only a few weeks ago but a draw and a loss in recent weeks combined with a few key injuries have left them vulnerable.
McLaren by 6 points

Mt Compass should be far too good for the Mudlarks whos heads will still be in the clouds from their breakthrough win last week and combined with concentrating on positioning their B Grade for a crack at the Flag will see the Bulldogs win by 56 points

Goolwa/PE and Yank is a toss up. If the Magpies dont get some key players back that were missing last week, they'll struggle tho there must be a worry about how Yank will finish the season off after losing their coach and have been belted in the weeks since.
Magpies at home by 14 points

Yet to see the full Southern Districts squad but I know that Langhorne Creek trio Matt Dominish, Coby Helyar and Shannon Jones (U21) were selected. Any word on which other GSFL players were picked??

Very lack lustre build up for the home championships. The 2 Goolwa boys (miles and magic) didn’t play last week and couldn’t get up for the weekend after good association performances.

Northern and Western zones just trained on Goolwa Oval. Western look sharp

Anyone have any thoughts or inside info on what the boffins in GSFL house are thinking in regards to what happens to Round 14 ?

I guess it depends on when they're given the go ahead to resume playing as there could be several rounds postponed. Who knows ?

IF it is only one round would they look at pushing the season back 1 week? Would this be viable ?

Or would they or should they just scrap Round 14 and points are split?

Personally i think whatever scheduled matches are affected by Covid lockdowns the rounds are lost and points are split but until a restart date is announced, anything is on the table i guess?

Does anyone know if theres anything in the constitution that covers a situation when games cant go ahead either in Minor Rounds or Finals?

This is the current thought process from the GSFL:
Continue with Round 14 and the Women’s Prelim finals next weekend and move all other games for the rest of the season back a week

The (Saturday) finals would follow on from the minor round except for the Grand Final which would fall on AFL Grand Final day. This day would become a bye before our Grand Final a week after – note this would be the October Long weekend!

We are currently in the process of securing the finals venues – a week or so after they were planned to be played at those same venues.

These are the current thought patterns – as previously stated to make sure we get all rounds of footy completed and make sure no Club would be disadvantaged.

Yer I agree, but that was a quote from a GSFL email.

Their ‘thought patterns’ have now changed again since.
Games will recommence from Rnd 15 onwards all the way to the end of the season, and the missed Rnd 14 will be played as the final round (like a catch-up round), before finals. This is to save a scramble to move game locations etc. GRAND FINAL will be Saturday 2nd October.

October long weekend isn’t a great solution either, bucks shows, weddings, footy trips, holidays already booked in and paid for. You’d prefer to play AFL grand final day.

It now clashes with the Yank Show and as Yank is hosting the GF there will be people who will be double booked, overstretched volunteering their time for both events.

Gsfl just posted on FB:

Regarding the loss of Round 14 due to the Covid19 Lockdown, the League has had a long hard think and to minimise disruption and to get all 18 Rounds played and to make it fair for all Clubs within the League this is the current state of affairs.

It is proposed that we continue, as "normal", with Round 15 on wards as they are set and after Round 18 we play “Round 14” as the last minor round match on Saturday 28th of August.

This way there is less issues with the changing of multiple grounds over multiple weekends and to this end we will require each club that was programmed to host matches this coming weekend to please ensure that the round “14” ovals will be available on the 28th August 2021.

The Women's Finals will continue as planned on the 1st of August at Mt Compass and the Grand Final at Strathalbyn will now be on the 8th of August.

At this stage it is also proposed the Mini Colts Carnival will move to Sunday 29nd August.

The Final Series will move forward by one week and be rescheduled with the following dates:

4th September - Qualifying Final - Strathalbyn
5th September - Elimination Final - Willunga
11th September - Second Semi Final - Myponga
12th September - First Semi Final - McLaren Vale
18th September - Preliminary Final - Encounter Bay
25th September - AFL GRAND FINAL - GSFL BYE
2nd October - GSFL GRAND FINAL - Yankalilla

We know that this is a moving target and none of this is set in concrete but we intend to keep people informed as things come to hand and at the forefront is not to disadvantage any clubs.

Let us all hope with all our fingers and toes crossed that this hiccup is just a blip on the radar and we get a clear run after that and life gets back to normal as it can be.

The League would like to thank all Clubs and their supporters for their support with this and stay safe and keep your spirits up!

The Great Southern Football League team.

Yeah that’s no good. But there’s a long way to go and things will likely change again. We could be locked down longer yet.

Some credit to the league for giving some plan to the clubs so quickly.

Why not play the GF on the Sunday after the AFL GF?

What odds the AFL GF goes to a night time slot given a lot of local and State leagues will be pushing their finals back (we know there's a significant number of AFL people/media types that want a night GF)

This will be more likely if teh AFL GF goes West.

Play local GFs on the Sat arvo, sit back to watch the AFL GF that night at your club (Covid protocols not withstanding).....

Change to a final 4 and finish finals in 3 weekends?
