Great game of competitive footy at Nuri today... big Win for Gawler South to open their account.
Should shut a few "Experts" up for a week or two. New Recruits showed that they have something to offer, and a well drilled team executed the game plan very well. Seems that the Coach has a lot of respect happening there. Perhaps give them a chance before writing them off..(look at Melbourne and Freo for example)

There was certainly some interesting results thrown up yesterday, Barossa's big win over angaston and south's win over nuri

Anyone want to have a crack at predictions for the year now after one game?
Il have a stab

Tanunda
Barossa
Angaston
Willaston

I think a gap will open up between these 4 and the rest.
The rest will be very even and could finish anywhere from 5th -9th

Interesting results yesterday. Nuri and Gawler South see-sawed throughout the game and Willaston apparently looked very good which kind of gives Freeling a pat on the back for their efforts yesterday also. No doubt Tanunda are still the team to beat but I thought the results showed that their wont be the gap most of the posters are talking about. We fought on well yesterday and yes Tanunda had the game stitched up by 3/4 time but I thought there were some very good signs for us. I reckon we will know where things are at with all teams in a months time. ( Even then things could change if say... Sladey returned to the Tigers mid-season). While Tanunda have kept virtually the same well oiled squad it will take a while for most other sides to gel.
Anyway, Ive been told to tone it down by a mate in regard to making big statements regarding our club and have stepped back from the keyboard recently .....but stuff him here's my big call -Scooter Hahn to break the stereotypical mould of flashy onballers and dominant ruckman winning medals by taking it out the 2010 medal!

I tipped the lions this week so that must make me the foremost expert by your reckoning.

The bulldogs win is the only real surprise for this round. Looking forward to reading how the Ango posters reconcile that start to the season are the dogs the real deal or did they catch hadds army out?

Very quiet trip on the way home from Williamstown yesterday.
Found myself starring at the bottom of a few bottles of Octavius in search for some answers.
The dogs were very impressive in close and much hungrier than the panthers around the ground.
Was a very important win for the doggies. Now one up on the other sides competing for 3rd and 4th spots.

It seems the early predictions about Angaston & Freeling have got some other teams well and truly on the 'front foot'
Talk is cheap in Jan, Feb & March, once April hits you see who's got what and maybe it'll be a lot closer season than many predicted.

South's are looking better outfit than last year with half a team to still come in apparently.

In 2 very ordinary displays of football South won the B's by a couple points and got within a kick in the A Grade after being 4 goals down at 3 quarter time, i didn't see much difference in the way they go about it.
Not sure how many games you saw of South last year Pinch but there are some major differences that were obvious for anyone who was at Saturday's game. For starters they have replaced the dead wood with young blokes who are playing with some heart. Given the work done they will probably be the fittest side going around this year and will run games out, unlike previous years. As for a game plan if you couldnt work that one out then I have to question your football knowledge.

Unless Willaston had blokes unavailable South will account for them easily with their inclusions.

Saying that it is still way too early in the Lion's transformation to challenge Tanunda or Angaston but dont be suprised if the other 7 clubs are fairly even.

ps,Aaron Bayliss and Brady Scott could replace at elast half of that best 15 list.
Baylis WAS a gun, be knee recons do slow even the best down. As for Scott, if you are banking on him being a gun, well your dreaming. Barely had an impact in the Plains league.... Beefeater, you're off the ball again.... Best of luck to you and your grumpy, over rated coach today
Looks like I am on the ball again Snoozer and you again have no idea.

Bayliss and Scott both sensational against Nuri. (and Bayliss will only get better as his knee improves)

As for the coach how can he be over rated when he has not yet achieved anything in this league. Lets see how the season pans out and then pass your expert judgement.

ps, dissapointed in Stafford's preperation of the Nuri boys. The south boys over ran them in both grades and lots of Nuri players going down with cramp in 2nd half.

hahahhaha... what a stupid comment!!

Snoozer, you'll be happy to know that in his first competitive game since his knee re-con Bayliss outclassed his opponents and probably collected 3 votes along the way... the guy is only 24 and still has his best footy in front of him!!

If anything Bayliss has worked even harder since his operation and is probably fitter and stronger than when he first joined the lions!!

From what i could see Freeling will be around the mark in most games with their full team on the paddock, they have a new spine and should improve as they go. Another recruit at CHF on Sat - Kynan Buhlmann from Pt Adelaide. Mal makes a big difference and got plenty of it.

A very interesting round this week after the results on the weekend, the legs will find out where they are at this week when they play Barossa.

Just wondering whether anyone can explain why there are no results for the BLG on football online and why they where not in the paper this week. Perhaps someone close to the BLG can explain this. Football Online which represents the central zone says that the BLG has chosen not to place its results on their web page? It seems there is another web sight that we can get thses results but it seems inferior to the Football Online sight.
