What is the BLG Board thinking? A Barossa comp being taken over by Gawler Clubs.
AFL Game to be hosted by BLG next year and they pick Willaston?
What would be wrong with hosting the game at Nuriootpa, Tanunda or Kapunda?

Is a nice surface at Willaston, the facilities might not be what the AFL boys are used to,
Could it be a cricket related decision? Nuri would've been the obvious choice, but did they have the last one?

Willaston only oval available, all others have cricket or shows on the 12th march.
They wont play on any oval with concrete wickets

You would rip up a concrete pitch for a pre-season AFL game that could be Port Power V Fremantle?
There would be more people taking the pitch out than would attend the game.
With a savvy business brain like yours champ you must be the CEO of a multi-national company,
Sadly I think you are used to not being heard though, judging by your extreme use of exclamation points to highlight your comment.

Having been at a club who have hosted two AFL matches, there is a hell of a lot of work involved but massive rewards for the clubs at the end of the day. I'd say Willaston will have to do up their changerooms a bit before the match as the AFL are pretty strict on this. It doesn't matter who is playing on the day, you will still get a huge crowd there. When we had it at Berri, each club had a booth or food stand they were in charge of and the league would come and collect all the money throughout the day and once the costs etc were taken out, the balance was divided up between the clubs. I was on the booth all day and have never been so busy in my life.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Still wouldn't warrant pulling up a concrete pitch for though, especially if the dividends get split between all the clubs. Will each club then help out putting back a concrete pitch or turf deck or the associtaion ship in, I think not. I am with you Stewie and think that some people live in dream world.

One of the peacocks on here has called me a fork-lift driver....
Do I have a computer on the dashboard???
Port can't get 5000 to a regular season match, why would they come to the pre-season?
Meanwhile did you respond under a different identity 151 or Football Follower?
I bet you still have Velcro shoes coz those laces are just so damn challenging.

Why do you keep saying Port
Dont forget it also could be the Crows
Lets say its a Crows v Essondon or Calton
Would you be off the same opinion then ??
You would end up with 10,000 there plus
Why different identity
How could anyone want cricket instead of an AFL game, and promoting your club and league
What would be the cost of taking pitch out and putting back ???
$10 grand $15 grand
Just make sure you get the up and down stick right on the Hyster

I am sorry, you must be a 'student' of the game, as proven by your outstanding spelling
of Essendon and Carlton (those 7 and 8 letter words can be tricky).
Yet, apparently it is me who drives a forklift.
What do you do? put stickers on fruit?
Nice one muppet.
In your 'learned' position you think that making a profit of (if its divided between the clubs) maybe $5000 each,
it is then warranted to tear up and replace a pitch at the cost of $10000-$15000???
I am dealing with Pythagoras re-incarnated.
Not sure the Crows draw a massive crowd in the pre-season these days either,
Maybe it will be another barn-burner like they had at Elizabeth last year when they fell in against Melbourne.
That will draw the fans out in there 10's and 100's.

Is it confirmed that Willaston will be hosting an AFL game or just speculation??
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

$5000 as you say for each club x 9 Clubs = $45,000.00
Still with me Stewie or am i going to fast for you
Less the cost of pitch, say $15,000.00 ( estimate only) = $30,000.00 Profit
Don't use your fingers Stewie i have a calculator, so i am a bit quicker than you
Now Stewie the next step is to divide the Profit of $30,000.00 between the 9 clubs
so
$30,000.00 divide by 9 = $3,333.33333 to each club
Now Stewie could you for me work out what the Cricket match would bring in for the day
That equation can be quite easily worked out on your fingers

Not only think about Profit also something that you haven't thought about is what it does for the BLG the local area and many other social benefits.
Anyway Stew buddy been great debating with you, and your points have been appreciated
Merry Xmas

No doubt Angaston would be the ideal location to play if a hardwicket were to be pulled up.
This could explain why I seen Andrew Demetriou and the BL&G cricket president in discussion over a butcher of port at the Brauhaus this morning.
Meanwhile Mick and Stewie were putting the Hyster through its paces in the drive thru.

The cricket match doesn't require pulling up the pitch, so net-loss to the hosting club = nothing.
Is irrelevant how many people show up.
If each club gets $3333 each (as you so brilliantly calculated),
the cost to the club hosting is $10000 to take the pitch up, so that club would lose $6666 for the day.
The idea is so stupid I can only pity the people who work with you (on the fruit-line), are related to you,
or have had the misfortune of sharing a brief conversation with you.

$10,000 - $15,000 is an overestimate. One of the most recent pitches to go in in the Barossa came in with change from 5K. but regardless, you would never rip a pitch out to play a pre-season game.

Willaston seems a reasonable venue for the game given all the options.
