going on what i have heard from balaklava players at work was that hodgetts was calling a lot free kicks to two wells and calling frees from 50km away from the play when the other ump was right there, they said the name of the offical invovled but cant remember, not the right think to do,my concern has been with junior ump not protecting players in junior grades which has resulted with us anyway 2 parnets pulling there kids out of footy.but ump are ump and you will never change a umps mind.

Lets translate this to english shall we :D

maidenmagpie wrote:Reporting from what I have heard from Wilmer at work, Will Hodgetts was the umpire and he was biased towards Two Wells in the last quarter. Will's fitness is clearly not up to A Grade level umpiring and was calling a lot of free kicks when he was in no position to do so. He even overrode BJ the other umpire on several occasions when BJ was in the perfect position. I can't remember who the official that got reported was but the name would ring a bell if someone else named him. Officials going off at umpires after the siren sounded is not the right thing to do and should never happen.

I have had concerns for some time with Umpires not protecting Junior players in the Junior grades. This has unfortunately led to two parents pulling their kids out of footy. An umpire will never change his decision once it is made therefore we have just got to put up with it.

I'm pretty sure that Northerly on Saturday would have only helped your game Hazbeen. Would have helped taking the fear of slicing the ball out of bounds on holes 4, 5 & 6 out of the equation for you. ;) Conditions may not be so conducive this weekend!

4, 5 & 6 were ok on the weekend, either parred or bogeyed them all. Problem was on 7, put my first 2 drives into the trees on the left on the rise and couldn't find the little white bastards in the long grass, ending up taking 10 (stroke round).

See you at Longies this weekend, giving the golf a miss as the little bolke will be running around in the mini's.

Official was the Reserves runner on the day, don't need to print his name as all other clubs would know who he is, usual extra loud "constructive" criticism of the A grade umpires performance, umpire listed on another post, result from tribunal $1000 fine for the club & 2 year ban from acting as an official for the individual.

Massive penalty that one. The fine would be what really hurts I would have thought. I would guess that this sort of penalty would serve as a big warning to all clubs that they are going to be treating these things very seriously.

I'm pretty sure that the Producer putting the incident on the front page plus a half page write up on page 3 before it went to tribunal wouldn't have helped the Balak footy club at all. In fact I would say that it would have made it even worse for them. Not too sure Tallboy being quoted in the article was the write thing to do either! Guilt was presumed before the Hearing... :-?

I think its about bloody time that Balak FC are finally made accountable for allowing this ditwit to keep involved with their footy club after some of the incidents he's been involved with over the years. Maybe this might force Balak to take a moral stance rather than a loyal stance and get rid of him.

I know you are speaking from personal experience Swamp but doesn't every club have an example of over zealous supporters? I know that whenever Balak play the Pies at Mallala I end up down with old mates under the verandah and hear as much directed at the Umpies and Peckers players as would come from any home team crowd.

Balaklava is calling the person involved in front of its committee to hand out its own penalty which will remain within the realms of those involved.

There's over Zealous supporters and then there are those who have responsibilites on game day.

if your only job on any given saturday is to front up, drink beer and support your club, then so be it, but if you are in the field of play, and on the team sheet you probably need to reign in your enthusiasm. You can't go running about with a licence to hang as much s%$t on anyone you run past.
Case in point: earlier this year i did the right thing and ran some water for the lads, one of the opposition players dropped a relativley easy mark, i hooked in to him with the reasonably harmless call that he S%^t his pants.
Doug took me aside and old me politely that i can't say anything to opposition players as i was an on field representative i could be reported for it.
i have heard this wacka hang it on players as he wished, penalise him yes, but i believe the severity is because he didn't front up to answer his charges, so they whacked him!
Sorry people I only deal in facts!

Absolutely Hazbeen, it wouldn't be a game of Aussie rules without it and Mallala supporters are arguably the most vocal in this dept, however I have never seen anybody step out of line. However I think we both know that the 'guy' in question here, isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and is often at the centre of most controversal incidents involving Balak. He certainly doesn't promote the image of BFC so lets hope for the sake of the APFL, the BFC committee act appropriately and make a strong stand, though sounds like we'll never know if that happens or not. Congrats to the APFL tribunal for doing so.... all be it 12 months too late.

So why did you ask?? Unlike Barossa Districts, United still have a chance to play finals so until then I doubt that anyone really gives a sh*t
