I know several years back the ruling was as MH stated that after 2 years away you can come back to the Barossa and walk to which ever club you wish but I believe 8-10 years ago (may not even be that long ago) the ruling was changed stating that you still need to obtain a clearance from your previous Barossa club no matter how long you were away from that club for.

I am not sure if this has again changed with the new point system in place though.

It doesn't matter how long you have been away, the prior club you played for must clear you, its a BL&G thing.
Also, Greenwood had to be cleared as he was COACHING which is one of the loop-holes to this rule.
Can't see Centrals helping Willaston out on this one.

My point is Stewie that Tanunda had no problems clearing Greeny and in the past we have been happy to clear players to other clubs as has Angaston (eg. Bob Smart), thats the way it should be, something called being a good sport.

We cleared Bevo to you guys last year...we are good sports too.
If you could have sent us Bobby Smart before he got his letter from the queen that would've been better also.

Centrals wouldnt help willaston out with a 18 year old who only played 2 A grade games last season for the season just gone let alone clearing a gun full forward. Gawler clubs arent as forgiving then the Barossa clubs, one thinks deep down that hatered for one another comes to mind straight away. Still think that no matter what players any other club apart from tanunda gets they may find it hard knocking off the magies for next seasons flag, if they keep all personnel

Have a strong feeling guys that CFL rules are that players can only be denied a clearance if the are unfinancial (subs only) or that they have a current CFL contract with a club they wish to be cleared from, ie we are now talking 2012. Not sure that leagues have retained their individual rules in relation to clearances although what you guys are talking about appears to have a fair bit of logic but there might be a chance that none of it exists any longer.

I may be wrong but didn't Ben Walton ask for a clearance from Willaston to Gawler Centrals and they said no. GC cleared Scott, Copley and now according to this, Mills... If I was at GC I wouldn't have cleared all them if they wouldn't clear Walton... Can't see GC clearing Niklaus after all that...

Willaston have layed there own mess as far as not clearing players. Remember 6-7 years ago and a young lad by the name of Daniel Lee wanted to be cleared to Gaza, the club rejected it and the player had to stick out the remainder of the season. Following year they allowed it and what does the bloke do, turns his back on willaston and signs with South Gawler. Most clubs get a bit of karma thrown back at them at some stage. I think clubs should not have the luxury of clearing players when they return to the league and play for a rival club, let the player play, and just get on with it.

Ashley Barnett who had a stint at Barossa District in the 90's. Barossa was one of many clubs he has played at, bit of a journeyman.

Heberle, Thomas & Blakemore now all gone from the Dog Track, hearing the appointment of Herzick as coach has split the club in half. It's a shame Wacka couldn't continue as coach, did a pretty good job considering the majority of players were locals and he didn't have a big budget compared with some other clubs in the BL&G.

Heard a rumour that Tanunda have made a play for Brendon Fevola. seems the money they can spend has all but tempted the former AFL spearhead from a big NFL contract. money seems to be in the wines for 2012 season.

You never Know what might happen? They obviously spent big to win 4 flags and a couple reserve flags in the last 4 years, must have a bit of coin to spare for the old fev
