Pretty dangerous territory recruiting 'groups' of players to your club, especially if they're not linked to Hamley with work or family. Recruiting such as this is what creates that BOOM BUST rollercoaster, because as soon as 1 player is out of favour then they will all want to leave

You would think Hamley would have learnt from the Hermann era. If they did get a heap in and they all left at the same time they would just be back to where they are now.

Also, Hamley want the import boundaries changed to include Hewitt. They obviously have some recruits living there that they want classed as locals.

My thoughts - Rediculous

I don't have an issue with it, if a team mate does something that warrant being sent off then its a team game and clearly a member of that team has a discipline problem and should be penalised. My main issue with it in the APFL, is the quality and intelligence of some of the umpires make stupid decisions out of panic and ego rather than common sense send offs e.g. the dribbler who does the colts and dougie searle. It gives these units too much of an impact on a game, hard to believe they could have any more, but...

So in wrapping up.............. I don't really know...........how about we leave it as it is because it's not a major issue in our league anyway!!!!!

Bingo!

Agree. Stupid idea. If this came in, it could even lead to manipulation of games by the men in white. Big call but cash talks. Don't discount it!

As a man in white from the BL&G, our idea with the send off rule has merit
replacement allows punishment of the player, but not the team
if we make this rule 'soccer like' bad things will happen, something like this would never happen in the BL&G
But talk of manipulation is crazy...

So what are you saying here? Do you think that having a player that is sent off not being able to be replaced by another player is a good or bad idea?

Pretty hard to only recruit players linked to Hamley with family or work, most of these avenues have been exhausted over the years, or these lads are already playing!! Or are you saying we should have just recruited one of them and left the other two alone...because groups are bad?

I am sure that if three young lads from Port Districts that had also played a fair bit of SANFL reserves showed interest in Mallala...you would be interested. Especially if you were struggling a little.

You will all be pleased to know that after speaking to my informant who was at last nights AGM that this rule got defeated. :D . Apparently nearly every motion got defeated :) .

Points system on the way 2011 instead of the current import rule? Any truth in the rumour?

Yes, I can confirm that Jumbo. The Points system will be compulsory across the state from 2011.

If that is true it will make any recruiting for 2010 extremely "import"-ant.

Yes and No Gilbert. I am of the understanding that all players registered by 30th June 2009 will be allocated 0 points. All players registered after that date (ie: from now onwards) will be included in the points allocation for 2011.

Example: Your 3 Pt. Districts players who would normally be worth 3 points will be 2 points in 2011 as they would have already played a season.

This means that any recruiting done for this season will be factored into the points system when it comes in.

Personally, I would rather everyone who is registered by June 2010 to be given a 0 point start base but we will have to see how the season pans out I guess.

Interesting...thanks for that MC. So how many points are each club allowed? I am totally ignorant on how it works.

Check out this link Francis - http://www.rmfl.com.au/index.php?id=points - a good description of the River Murray system. I guess APFL would be similar (if not the same) and the variable being the number of points to be allocated for each club. RMFL have 10 points for top 4, and more points allocated for the clubs for lower finishes.

Can anyone at last nights meeting give us some more detail?

Not sure on how many points each club will get, the League will hopefully decide upon that during the year. I do know that 15 points is the maximum allowed.

I spoke to someone who was at the meeting last night at Mixed Netty Jumbo and he told me nothing much has changed. Only thing is that the league will look into a new finals rotation. Not sure what they will come up with though because 4 finals into 7 clubs doesn't come up evens.

And Jumbo, your mate Jock Brechin was voted onto the Board for the next season. :D

hamley signed up shane catterall on around 500 a game, played with him and i'd say about i dn't see hm turning the club arund, a tall forward who can move but i think his head weighs him down, was getting dropped at his first club cracked the shits and went out to play at centrals. hamley also intersted in brett prior but he is going out to virginia to have a look with his mate wilksy who got offered 600 a game!! wilky at best a handy wingman but you could get 2 or 3 handy midfielders for that price... a fair bit of money is going around but i'm not to sure if the clubs have actually seen them play!!!
