Daniel hargraves nearly a done deal at Goolwa..!! I'm not totally up with this points system so how many points will Hargraves, Ewer and Rigney attract..?? How many do Goolwa have to spend..??

I think they all would = 11 points out of 14. LF would know.

The 3 players mentioned would attract 10, leaving 2 points to spare.

Would be good for your club if they all come off which i am led to believe is a real posibility... Which Wilson is staying..??

Saints looking handy. When will those 3 put pen to paper? What is Hargreaves connection to Goolwa?
Lucky big L. Hirst is putting in the hard yards fitness-wise pre-season otherwise he might need to find a role down back/ruck, word has it he is bringing "Aggie" Thompson down to Goolwa too (0 point player, has great skills when fit). He ran 3km time trial in 12.05 and is hunting for a midfield berth with Shane Fox & co. Could be some new faces down there.

Firstly, the Saints are no longer in the GSFL, secondly a 12min, 3km time trial is nothing to go boasting about, would think that is very much par throughout all leagues. Not sure on the connection Hargraeves has with Goolwa, but it is hard to see him breaking his contract with Nhill Football Club, which i believe is very much signed, sealed and delivered as of over a month ago. Time will tell though. Lastly Kappars, do you know something we don't? S Fox won't be making a decision on his playing future any time soon so to say he will be in the Maggies midfield in '09 is a big call, and an even bigger call is putting Aggy in the hunt for a midfield spot down at Goolwa next season

No longer in the GSFL? What yo talkin bout Willis?

I'm not fully aware of Fox making a decision yet, just hypothetically with his inclusion the Saints look even stronger. I hear he is getting serious $$$$$ thrown at him by several clubs from all over the state, so your right, he has no need to sign on with the Saints just yet.

Exactly, especially at this time of year, 12min for 3km is standard at league clubs.

Saints is just out of habit. The Magpies it is from now on.

Damian, where have you seen "Aggie" play to consider he wouldn't dominate inside the Magpies midfield? Would be in the top 3 out there skills-wise & now he is fitwould be extremely useful as a 0 point player!

Got that mail aswell BJ, heard it was the FLYS he was out training with last week... and if what you say is true about him playing 1 more year, it seems fitting that he might go BACK HOME to play his last year of footy....

Big pick up if this eventuates!

:ympray:

Mate, it seems as though it is true. Big Matty J was out at training last Thursday and said that he wasn't going to play at all but always said he would play his final year at Reynella. So my guess is he is either going to retire altogether or play one more year at Reynella. So luckily for you and your thighs, you won't have to face him again! He was a mongrel to ruck against!

Interesting to hear that Ox is having a run at Reynella. He played the last part of 2008 with a torn ACL so I got the impression that he was either going to give it away or have one more year at the Creek. Hopefully he's got one more year left in him and he'll spend it in the brown and gold jumper.

Any player would be useful as a 0 point player, with the high possibility of Ewer playing at Goolwa next year, Yeomans still around at this stage and McGuinness and the Griffen boys i couldn't see the midfield having a huge shake-up. To dominate any midfield in the GSFL you would have to be pretty darn good, Aggie hasn't played for a while now and for one to think he would walk into a midfield role in the GSFL is quite naive i think.

Perhaps it was over the top. He has come out a few trainings with us over the last few years (due to having a few connections at the club) his skills & awareness are second to none, if he puts on a few pounds & gets the km's into his legs over summer i believe he could play a vital role. From what i heard, the games he played at Callington were nothing short of dominating. But with his commitments to golf, he was unable to really commit to anything week in, week out.

is he as good as yeomans, plenty of hype about him, dont get me wrong but even the skills yeoy had could not get the saints anywhere near the top.

The forward line at Saints would be exciting and with those players WILL make the finals.
What a great comp the GSFL will be in 2009.
Cuzzy, what was the meet the coach day like on Sunday and how are the recruits looking at the Bay?

meet the coach day went well, couple of new recruits, big boys! and a few others to come yet. Bascially waiting on the points i believe as rmfl, hills and amatuers are the same 3 points as a SANFL footballer so i did hear most clubs have put in to get this ruling changed. Couple of local lads returning to footy this year also will be great for the bays.

Coach spoke well and clear of his intentions to supporters then took players down into rooms and delivered his plans and what he has in store for us. Gave us all pre season programs until training jan 13th. Did myne this morning and feel like i have been hit by a truck today so hopefully we all start fit and ready on the 13th.

Not sure about Slug Cuzzy. Robinson is living with Neil in Victor and last season Neil wanted to go to Victor so you may see Shane and Neil at Victor in 09, that the first I have heard Robinson mentioned with the bays but.
