Great initiative MC - great to see some AFL involvement at the grass roots level. Kids would love it I am sure.

Todd Thorne brought a couple of WWT Eagles league players out to Two Wells Primary School and later the footy club last thursday - we don't see enough of this but good to see it happening.

The kids certainly will love it Jumbo. We had Todd last Tuesday night except apparently the Eagles players' car broke down so they didn't make it. Todd still did a great job running them through some drills. Glad their car was working in time for you guys last week. Would be good to see them come to every club in the league at least once a year.

Balaklava has Power players taking our Auskick from 4 to 5 tomorrow night, what time are they at the Water Tower MC? Just wondering if it will be the same players or are Port covering all clubs with different players on the same night in the league.

Fog Horn Leg Horn wrote:Two Wells took on undefeated Premiers Mallala at home on Saturday. The match was played in pretty good conditions despite morning showers and overcast skies. Two Wells made three changes to the side that defeated Virginia in Round 8 with Port Districts recruit Christian Nurton resuming from injury, Brad Struck promoted from the Reserves and Senior Colt Jordan Shephard making his A-grade debut. Two Wells captain Scott Humphries was playing his 100th game while vice captain Ned Seccafien was playing his 50th game. The Magpies started the game on fire kicking the first 6 goals before the Roosters had troubled the scorers. Alf Steed kicked Two Wells first goal before setting up the next as Paul Christofis kicked two goals before quarter time. Amazingly after their slow start the Roosters hit the front during the second quarter, before Mallala kicked away to lead by 14 points at half time. The third quarter was a real arm wrestle with neither side giving an inch with Mallala in front by 8 points at the final change. The last quarter started in near darkness and it wasn’t long before Mallala’s Daniel Feeley goaled for his fourth of the afternoon. Two Wells replied with the next two goals included an amazing set shot goal by Ryan McDonald from the car park to cut the lead to just 3 points. This would be as close as the Roosters would get. No matter what Two Wells would throw at Mallala they were simply too good. When David Pontt goaled on the goal line courtesy of a 50 metre penalty after being crunched as he marked the game was over. Two Wells battled on to the end, but the Magpies had too much class. Ranga Joel Montgomerie would have received three votes from the umpires in a best on ground performance where he didn’t waste a kick. Alf Steed was clearly Two Wells best with first class skills and was obvious that he had played alot of football at a higher standard. Tallan Leighton was also very good across half back along with youngster Daniel Hines who seems to be getting better each week. Two Wells face Balaklava away next Saturday in another big clash and needs to win to stay in touch with the top 4. Mallala are now 3 games clear in top spot and face a confident United at home in a potential danger game.

Great summary Fog Horn. Alf Steed will be a fantastic addition for Two Wells, his was great with his leadership and winning the hard ball. He lead the way for the Roosters and I was amazed he only got 3rd best for them. It was a galant showing from Two Wells with Khan Leighton, Andrew Hardiman and Lee Allmond all still missing with injury. Great effort by the pies all the same with only 1 on the bench for 3qtrs and none in the last qtr and a half. Boys showed some real character.

Bylaw 5 (c) reads- Any player selected to play in any Inter-League match or matches who neglects or refuses to train or play in such match or matches will not be eligible to play their next club match. This only applies to A and :) Reserves players over the age of eighteen (18) years.

Very long bow to draw when if selected they could not have played anyway. Coach was aware of their situations, IMHO their situation does not imply any neglect or refusal. I would suggest Hunt is in the same situation - just plain BS.

BTW : Both are still injured and likely to miss a couple more - this is what makes it so ridiculous. This has not impacted Two Wells, but Eagles and Hunt it does.

When they going to introduce B Grade Association sides anyway ???? - could boost bar takings at carnival and also give blokes who play for "the love of the club (and league)" a crack at something different. (Probably all players selected dead keen) + might keep ex-A grade stars playing on a few more years in the 2's (helping young lads at clubs learn a thing or two)

APFL B Grade side to take on YPFL, NEFL and NAFA in 2011 (or zone weekend bye?):
Criteria (cant have played NO MORE THAN 1 A Grade game in current season before squad selected)

FF: Derek Tiller (M), Jason Becker (TW), Adam Baker (HB)
HF: Troy Crampton (V), Alex Leo (V), Owen Allmond (TW)
C: Mitch McKay (HWE), Paul McLean (B), John Mason (U)
HB: Leigh Michalanney (U), David Yates (B), Darren Applebee (TW)
FB: Ben Manners (HWE), Luke Marshman (HB), Plugga Roberts (M)
RUCKS: Michael Curnow (HWE), Rick Lamond (B), Nuts Naulty (HB),
(2nd ruck, Ben Pym, Adam Baker, Reece Kerr)

This is gold Kangaroo Brand, great idea the loyal B-Graders always seem to miss out on Association football but the APFL has enough trouble getting the suspensions correct for the players who didn't make themselves avaliable for the association matches at Kadina. It amazes me that so many players were suspended for Round 10 matches especially when the APFL won the Landmark Cup without them. The majority of players had genuine reasons for being unavailable ie Niklaus (wedding) and Allmond and Leighton were both injuried and never a chance to play on Saturday. The APFL suspensions look more ridiculous when United's Peter Burgoyne who also made himself unavailable for the Association match was not suspended and played on Saturday. To me it seems that the rules changes because Burgoyne is a high profile AFL recruit. Thought Dale Bywaters was a bit stiff not to be in the Association side KB :D

Did you manage to catch up with Tuck & Jock Brechin on the weekend Jumbo? Interested to know where they stand on the disgrace that was suspending some players. Wouldn't think that there would be too many more than say 6 people on the APFL board. So that would mean that Tuck & Jock would make up nearly half of the comittee. With that in mind it would seem that they either agreed with the rest of the board or they didn't put up much of an argument! We need to be scathing of the whole board for this debacle & not go easy on a few because they may be "good blokes". Other leagues look down on us as it is. Our boys go and get a heap of respect by playing the way they did last week & then the league goes & turns us into a laughing stock by suspending players like Leighton, Allmond, Nicklaus, Hunt etc. BRAD BUSCH, YOU MUST RESIGN!

No I didn't Woofa, I didn't see Jock there and Tuck was always chatting to someone. I'll get my chance soon. I agree with your call, get it right Board or on ya bike.

Who is on the Board? Brechin, Tucker, Busch, A Seccafien (?), Musolino (?) - must be more. One way to find out - see who is hovering around the sandwiches come finals time .....

As i understand it Burgoyne told them he was injured and made himself available, apparently these DH's need the player to say "yes God I can play but I am injured" - clearly a coach wont pick them. I also heard on the weekend that A Michael put all those names up for suspension, if thats the case (and its only rumour) then A Michael that is just poor form from someone who I thought had some integrity. From what I hear only Catford refused to play.

Stitch Jenner is the other one. I do agree with you Woofa that the whole board is responsible for the laughing stock our league is. For Busch to resign or be replaced someone needs to put their hand up and take the job on. Any ideas as to who might be suitable candidates. The only two that I know of are Jumbo and the left hand goal post at the scoreboard end at wakey.

Did anyone watch that new 60 seconds show on Channel 7 last night? Got home early from training and caught the last 5 minutes and Jono Evans' Mrs. was the last contestant. Spotted Jono in the crowd a couple of times.
