Balaklava has secured the services of rebounding defender/gun full forward OnSong.
New to the town, OnSong was flooded with huge offers from local clubs, including a year’s supply of fly spray and insect repellant from United and an exclusive seat on Saturday night after match functions next to Paul Chivell at Hummocks/Watchman Eagles.
Despite the tempting offers OnSong will front for the local club, and attend regular church masses with the team.
Having not ventured into a hardware retailer in the region, Two Wells missed the opportunity to recruit the former Berri player, while Hamley Bridge, allocated more points in the new system than they scored throughout 2010, said they had “bigger fish to fry”.
2010 premiers Mallala were distracted by the new receptionist in their council office and also missed the recruiting coup.
Virginia refused to contact OnSong after he misread the name of the town, missing that pivotal final ‘I’.
OnSong said he was happy to join a young senior squad.
“Yeah, the Peckers were a bit stiff last year, blowing the lot prematurely,” OnSong said.
“This year, I’ll try and use my experience to increase that overall staying power, but many clubs would fall victim to Virgina in those slippery conditions.”

Must have been a good offer for you to knock back the $500 from South Clare you were offered.

Mallala have plenty of points to play with. The team from last year uses up just 1 point for 2011, so we have 6 points to spend. Yep loosing Ryan Mont at this stage due to working committments is heading to Cowell. Has been a super player for the Magpies winning 3 premierships, and should've had at least 1 B & F. Will be very difficult to replace a player and bloke of his quality, and don't think we ever will. MOTO = LEGEND!!!

As for the 2 other "West Coasters" that have been mentioned, of course we are looking, like everyone else is this time of the year, but not too hard given the quality and youth in the premiership winning B grade team from this year. Be looking for a MOTO replacement at least. If they want to come and play they can come and have a crack. Don't know what the big deal is, wouldn't most clubs have some new players in the pipeline for next season?? :? :?
