Any news on Alf Steed's plans MH? Reckon TW must hang on to him if they're to be any chance in 2011.

Mallala (1) - 7 points
Hummocks (3) - 9 points
United (6) - 10 points
Balaklava (4) - 10 points
Two Wells (5) - 11 points
Virginia (2) - 11 points
Hamley Bridge (7) - 15 points

is this the right points for the league this year if so does it work?

for example mallala 7 points yep fair enough they were premieres but how does the runners up get 11(virginia) and united less even tho they finished bottom i cant work that out!

The points have been worked out on a win loss percentage over a four period.

Gee must suck to be United MC?? You guys are really getting shafted here. Can see some tough next 2-3 years for you guys with this system on top of your lack of population to draw from. If you guys turn into the next Hamley, i think the league will have to take a lot of the blame. On the flip side, virginia must be laughing all the way to the next couple of premierships perhaps.....

Not sure why... its worked out on a win/loss ratio over the last four seasons like has already been said  United have proven themselves to be able to be competitive without the points system year after year. In fact last year was the first year they havent played finals for a long time. If they do end up like Hamley have over the past few years, it would be due to massive mismanagement (like Hamley) and given the brains and personel at United I don't think they would ever let this happen. Hamley only has itself to blame IMO, unfortunatley the entire club has suffered over the past couple of years due to the rash recruiting decisions made by just a few people, I think United are above this. For the record I am not a huge fan of the points system as I feel things were rolling along nicely before hand. Yes there are cycles when some clubs are more dominant than others, but I think somebody else on here has pointed out recently that every club in the APFL has participated in a GF within the past 10 years or thereabouts. I think thats a reflection of the effectiveness of the import rule alone.

Quick question for you MC:

Why do united wear yellow shorts as opposed to the more common black?

My understanding is that its from when Roseworthy were in the comp it was changed from black to yellow. Roseworthy had a pink sash, Hamley a red sash and we have a yellow sash. To avoid the confusion in teams we changed to yellow shorts and Hamley changed to red. When Roseworthy folded Hamly changed back to black shorts. For some reason we have still kept our yellow ones.

It has been talked about changing back to black, but for some reason its never got off the ground. I would be keen to change, as I think the yellow shorts do look a bit weird.

Hearing whispers that Balak have also signed ex Mallala player Aaron Cock$.

He trained last night. He hadn't signed but came out for a look. Don't know if he put pen to paper yet or not though.

Who would know   I'm sure he'll show up at more than one clubs pre-season training before April, I initially heard he was going to be at United MC, what happened there?

Harping back to Aaron, can someone confirm either way....

The lad is 18.
Played the last three or four seasons at Freeling.
Played juniors at Mallala.

So why the '$' on the end of Cocks? :?

Massive comeback!

Hmm, must be close to the man himself I would say, but yes, a pretty sound statement.
I've only heard good things about Aaron as a player, will be interesting to see where he ends up and how he goes.

If Virginia have recruited Wally Hand, then personally i for one am glad that they have wasted points on him. Nothing against the guy but with the money the rams are prepared to spend, i think we should be grateful they didn't use there points on an absolute gun.
