I have never played in a football gf, so it will be different come the weekend. Not sure what to do. Might just keep the routine the same as the previous weeks. However, I think I will be more nervous friday night watching the hawks play sydney :)

Worst thing you can do apparently - studies have shown that a date with Mrs Palmer just before you go out to play is actually the best time for this to heighten your levels of testosterone.[/quote]

Mrs Palmer what a lady!
But in prep, keep the same routines the night and morning before nothing should change, Get to the ground early get a feel for things out on the oval and around the place and take it all in! Be mentally prepared for your job and get ready for the bender you will encounter days after

Poos.

And lots of them.....
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Best three footy related days I've ever had, especially since the A's and B's won flags that year

For those involved on Saturday, how are you feeling?

How are you keeping yourself occupied?

Does time seem to be going soooooo SLOW?

How do you curb pre-final jitters?

Do any seasoned campaigners have any advice for those playing their first GF (or first in aaages)

Sex and as much as you can get.
If you're lucky with a partner.

So what your saying is to gain an edge get a rubdown with a happy ending before the game would help? If you played at West Croydon it old be arranged quite easily ;)

i think the theory actually goes that you are meant to stop just before the money shot..this keeps the natural build up of testosterone flying around your body..so primarily it should be performed about 30 minutes or less before you play..

I'll correct you all and say it's got nothing to do with testosterone levels and everything to do with dopamine release in the brain.

Agree with pag .ya just gotta treat it as a normal game as hard as that is . Naturally ya gonna get nervous as hell but on e that ball is bounced ya just follow ya instincts and do what ya did to get ya there . Played in a gf in 08 and we all changed our routine went out for brekky at 830 and got a bus to the game etc and by quarter time were 7 goals down :(

I went to the show on Friday nights before and went on all the rides the night before. I was more worried about getting on them than the game the next day.

I reckon the opposite to most people. Stuff not playing the game in your head, its a grand final!
Play the game in your head, imagine kicking the winning goal after the siren and imagine singing the song afterwards!
Who has time to be nervous, its just a lot of fun, so enjoy it and the bender that follows.

I like to keep to myself before games, so a slow, quiet lap around the oval on my own to feel the atmosphere and get excited was awesome.
Talking about this really makes me wish I was involved this year!

All good theories and ideas but when you have played every game at 2.15 and you get a 10am game your routines are going to have to change and I'm not gonna find time to whack off.

What game was that?

I was talking about beating Para Hills by 12 goals in '07.
