Not even quality can coach itself GC.. I'd suggest a lack of coach has probably stopped them from being able to have a decent pre-season or come up with any type of game structure.

Do they even have a coach yet?

Speaking to one of their players the other day he said the coach was modbury C grade coach the last couple years. Did also say the preseason had been a bit of a rabble in terms of training drills until recently, but was pretty confident they'll go alright.

Yes very true but let's hope they can be put in div 6 and get rid of this bye, plus I personally think they will go ok

Hmmm at D6 and D7 level, a coach does diddly up until crunch time in finals IMO.

If they have a strong squad for D6, they will be exceedingly strong in D7, coach or no coach.

If it was good enough for the AFL and SANFL for years, then it's good enough for us.

Stop yer whinging.

Difference is, the AFL and SANFL don't have 60+ clubs to choose from in their competitions.

Apples and oranges

I must be getting old, I don't hate the idea of having a bye!

I'm yet to read a convincing argument against a bye.

Be proactive, run a night event at the club that weekend, which is exactly what I'll do.

Understand that is an option but surely having a home game and event night at the club on the same day is still better than not playing at all? I cant see how having a bye is better than not playing at all.

or, you could stick a really crappy team that isn't div 6 standard and potentially lose a player to injury in what would be classed as a training run, rather than giving your players a week to refresh themselves (and I don't mean with refreshments..LOL)

But yes each to their own.

Depends what the base outlay is for each game. No money is made from an away game, so the base outlay is automatically a loss there. Therefore a home game has to be profitable to cover both the home fixture and corresponding away fixture. Roughly doing the maths, I'd say our profits from the day of a home game cover the base outlay of the home and away games, profit is made from hosting social nights at the club.

Also, a bye gives volunteers a break during the season and may actually encourage an increase in volunteering or at least assist with retention rates.

Brahma Lodge would save $10K in match payments.
