Rosewater v Plympton- Game of the round, Rosewater at home in a tight match.

Woodville South v Brahma Lodge- The Lodge to win comfortably.

North Haven v Hope Valley- Huge game round 1 for us against HV, I can't wait to get out there. I expect to be a pretty tight game. I really hope we can come out ready to go and put in a really good performance to set the standard to need to be at for the season

Adelaide Lutheran v Salisbury West- SW to win away.

Had a good laugh at Corbetts comments in the messenger on Lockleys hopes/expectations for the year.

Finals and grand final? I would have thought losing your three best players would make it a 'consolidation' year when going up a division!

As a Life Member I would hope and expect our Senior Coach has at least set his goals on a Finals birth and if this seasons success is measured by the loss of three players then that would be very dissapointing. And if your goal is to just consolidate well that's probably all you will do...however if your goals are to continue to play Finals football well that is the best way forwards and upwards. Of course no guarrantee's but I would rather plan and hope for success than plan for consolidation and mediocrity.

Don't underestimate the growth and development in the remaining playing group and the mature age players recruited this season. If anyone has watched the development of a number of A6 Finalists over the past few years you would expect, plan and hope your club could follow the same trend - onwards and upwards.

Good response mate and fair enough. had heard that a few of the locks boys seem to think they're in for a long year, and are more hopeful of consolidating. This happened to my club a few years (albeit in a higer divison) where we had slightly unrealistic expectations after a premiership and got subsequently relegated. Don't mind LFC, and would liek to see them succeed a t higher level, so was somewhat concerned that they may face the same plight we did 3-4 years ago. Unfortuantely from POV, i can't see them making finals this year. Hopefully they can survive the drop - but i don't like their chances.

Of course no guarrantee's but I would rather plan and hope for success than plan for consolidation and mediocrity.

That part I dont quite agree with: consolidation can set you up for success - not mediocrity. sometimes things don't happen instanteously.

cheers

I suppose the thing about goals and plans is that they need to be realistic and somewhat flexible. You need to review the overall plan every few weeks in relation to how realistic it is and what you need to do to either keep it on track or tweek it to overcome any shortcomings. But if you're beaten before you start you will never win.

Any coach who enters a season at Round 1 in A5 after 5 years of playing Finals in A6 without a goal of at least playing Finals again, is perhaps already on the back foot and I always like to start on the front foot and be prepared to review "the plan" as situations dictate. There is plenty of ways to prepare for a season - I'm always keen to be positive, on the front foot and deal with the challenges as they come.

And just on CORBETT, he has really impressed out at Henley during the preseason and improved rapidly. Looks a real player and will start in the A's against Gaza on Saturday and has fitted in quite well with the boys :)
