PNU also have about half of the blokes that played in a div 4 Grand Final . Ok, they're not travelling the best at the second, but when they're switched on, this core group on thier own will dominate any game as most of you have seen.(I think Ive said this before).

Burrows and Martin are the exception rather than the rule.

You can stick Todd Patfull and Billy Kollias in that line up as well.

to those who care? i have had a read of the last 3-4 pages of this forum and i find it unfortunate that we have many supporters bagging different football clubs. lets put it in perspective, we live in div2 at the moment. i understand there are supporters out there that dont have respect for diff clubs for one reason or another but lets keep it real. as phantom member, retired player and current sponsor i see it first hand what clubs need to do to stay afloat and go up through the divisions. we as a club would like to think that we have earnt the respect of most opposition clubs. we dont pay out big $$$ for players, we are happy with what we have achieved in the past and are striving to get back into div 1, but you must earn that, it doesnt fall in your lap. the people, players, supporters, commitee members we have had in the past and present are have been and are now fantastic and we wouldnt have it any other way. you opposition clubs out there are in the same boat(most of you), you are all striving to be one thing as a club....THE BEST!!!! good luck it doesnt come easy, you must earn it!!!
see you in SEPTEMBER!!! hopefully!!!!

well done to gary mac his PNU boys on the weekend, well deseved win!!!! the pack is getting closer and we must get back to the the phantom way of playing footy if we are to be a threat in september....long and direct..NOT SIDEWAYS!!!

Was there an eclipse today at 3:30? Umpiring was great up until half time then there must have been a full moon or something, Trewartha and Gore were terrible from that point on . 11 goals a piece at half time. Then they ruined a good game after that. Raggies lost 3 players down the spine before half time but fought it out well. Well done to PHOS, Weed kicked 5, Moroney 6. That was the difference.

Week after week the umpiring is s%$t , to the point of being demoralising.

I understand your dissappointment blublurag, I watched 2 umpires today absolutely cheat there way through a game when there was no need to as the side that won is undefeated & were never ever going to lose.

I know this very notion has been raised before with the SANFL and AFL in particular but the SAAFL could try and build a platform for ex players to umpire. The potential problem with that is what if the ex-players are as bad as the blokes who have had very little exposure to playing the game.
I saw a game recently where the umpire in control was overruled by the other umpire twice in a game and one of those decisions was a head high that was going to have a player sent off with a Red Card. Common sense prevailed but what if it didn't and it cost the side the game?
I have very little idea what the solution is but I reckon it's been the worst its been for years and it's time to either simplify the interpretations of the rules or perhaps we all just accept there's nothing to be done and take the bad with the bad. The only thing I will say on what has become a national past time of umpire bashing is instead of just canning the umpires, come up with an answer because clearly the people in charge don't know either.

Went and watched the Hawks v Scotch game. Hawks looked like the loss fired them up. Clinical display from defence and hitting there forwards on the chest. Hawks got out to 80points up in the 3rd then took the foot off in the last. Was good to see "the Show" vandeveld back to form after an ankle injury with 6 goals. Scotch look to be in a bit of trouble Richard Champion only one that looked dangerous.

All I know is that PNU were 4 goals up with 5 mins to go and royally screwed it.

I caught this game, which is very difficult to review. Uni smashed PNU at clearances however PNU's defence was fairly solid. PNU made some skill errors, however Patfull was on fire taking plenty of overhead grabs and pushing it forward. PNU seemed to have the game won, leading by 4 goals with 5 mins to play however Uni had a late surge and were unlucky not to pinch it in the final few seconds. Was a brilliant game to watch and even though a neither team deserved to loose, its still a very strange, sombre feeling at the game when it ends without a result. Credit to both sides.
