Alex will make a very good umpire!!

Out of what?

Help our Kilburn football, and cricket club Inc
We are in financial trouble and we need funds and support to get thru this don’t let our club close we have been here since 1923.

How did we get into this trouble?
Over the last few years our area has faced challenges of new development where social housing stock has been demolished children moved out of the area while the redevelopment gets started.
We have had a huge influx of migrants who we have worked hard with integrating soccer and the Afghan community into our club now known as the Ghan Kilburn Soccer Club equating to many multicultural soccer teams.
This has been difficult for them as well as some are on visa and not working and with the council user pays every time a team trains or plays on the reserve, we have struggled to pay the rent (hourly hire) and rates owed to council which we wish to pay the arrears and move forward
During cricket an football seasons our club truly struggles for support and patrons which then puts us in the red
We have a new board and are moving in a positive direction

Please help us all we want is to continue to merge with football, cricket and soccer and all (being responsible for their accounts seasonal hire and rates)
but to achieve this and move forward we need financial assistance
so plz plz help our club

Big Shrek's match payments have sent the club broke.

Maybe if he stuck around the club after games and put some over the bar it wouldn't be so bad. :P

Name a club that doesn't pay their players? If the club doesn't pay players and they lose majority of games they still end up in the same predicament. It doesn't change the running cost of the club.

Well then ask the players to give some of their money back to fix up the 30K debt. That should fix the problem.

What's the long term plan of the club? What are you going to do to ensure you're financially viable for the future?

Love Kilburn, but their financial management has always been somewhat questionable.

Soccer was supposed to be the great saviour a few years back when the club chose it over cricket.. obviously that's not working the way intended.

The players have played numerous games over the years for free to help the club pay bills.

I personally don't see how the club will survive long term as everything has changed in the area. I doubt it will ever have a junior program again and without that I don't see things improving.

Even when the cricket club was at its strongest it was never a financially rewarding venture for the club.

He's talking about A graders not B graders :P :D

Sadly i agree with you, the demographic of the area doesn't really lend itself to aussie rules.. even the cricket side of Kilburn is divided and shrinking.

Unfortunately I have played as many A grade as B grade games this year. I do know the club has some really good people on the board and I hope things can improve, just not sure how the improvements will come about.

Are many cricket clubs anywhere "financially rewarding"?

I would have thought most clubs would be thrilled if they were a break even proposition.

I had to duck into the IGA around the corner on Saturday, would have been 50 odd people in there and I was the only “Australian” in there.

I think there was more CLG people at the game than Kilburn people, such great clubrooms to have a beer in
