There was no mention of the two leagues merging in any of the information distributed to flinders park junior stakeholders about the proposed move from mwjfl to msjfl. It was a very open and transparent process with a significant amount of background research and information distributed.

Know from recent experience that background research and information distributed to junior stakeholders can be very selective to further the cause of the interests of a select few. Let's hope in this instance it was a lot more transparent and the outcome is beneficial to all stakeholders.

Look Good In Leather wrote:Looking at their Annual Report, it seems there is a lot of unrest in Metro West:

Flinders Park:
The Flinders Park Junior Football Club, a founding member of the LEAGUE has now transferred to the Metro South Junior Football LEAGUE and will be participating in the MSJFL in 2014. We wish them all the best in the future. Unfortunately this now leaves the LEAGUE with ten (10) clubs.

Instability:
The MWJFL has been aware that some club representatives have been meeting privately with a view to replacing the current Executive. Whilst I commend clubs for keeping open dialogue with each other for support, it has been very destabilizing for the current LEAGUE executive and caused some division in the League. This action has derailed the Leagues planning and management and has interrupted a smooth transition from season 2013 to 2014. I feel the proper forum for complaints and issues should have been to come to the LEAGUE to be discussed and voted on, AND THEN let due process occur at the season AGM. Myself aside, I feel the current executive has worked tirelessly for the betterment of the competition and whilst we do not always agree on everything they clearly did not deserve this.

U16 JOINT MWJFL/MSJFL COMPETITION:
The MWJFL member clubs delegates in August overwhelmingly endorsed the joint U16 competition to continue in 2014. As a result of these meeting and unrest by the MWJFL clubs the MSJFL are now planning their fixtures for 2014 to NOT include the MWJFL U16 teams.
Unfortunately this joint U16 competition was strongly supported by MWJFL and MSJFL members in the recent SANFL Junior Football survey.
The MWJFL Executive is extremely disappointed that the U16 joint competition is not going to continue in 2014 and feel the competition will now suffer.

Vice Chairman’s Report
...It appears that the implementation of guidelines and change, contributed to rumblings from some clubs. This resulted in much unrest and I thank Flinders Park for providing people who were vocal, who made honest and educated comments and served the best interests of their own clubs. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew Marshman from SMOSH WEST LAKES for attempting to bring the matter to a head and facilitating the meeting...

...With mixed emotions I feel that through no fault of my own, we have failed the clubs. This Executive have picked up the mantle - we have been open and honest and made decisions we believe to be in the best interest of the League. We made mistakes along the way but we also took ownership of those mistakes and have taken steps ensure that these mistakes won’t happen again...

Treasurer’s Report
...Since the end of the financial year all outstanding accounts for this Season have been paid excepting an account with North Haven Football Club (Insurance Reimbursement) for $310.00 which I have regularly followed up and still to the time of writing not received the payment...

Does anyone know what mistakes they are referring to? Also, what led (if it wasn't these mistakes) to club reps meeting privately?

A look at the fixture will highlight the biggest issue. It appears the MSJFL did the scheduling with no regard to MWJFL teams.
The committee tried to implement a lot of policy changes, while I dont think anyone thinks they were not needed, the policies were attempted to be taken as the rules prior to even being voted on. A lot of it was due to the timing, for example, the season had started and they wanted to to introduce the re-grading policy.
In regard to the U16s this quote says it all " MSJFL are now planning their fixtures for 2014 to NOT include the MWJFL U16 teams." If I'm not mistaken, the MSJFL joined the MWJFL .

how can it be Metro Souths fault for the fixture when this statement was in your end of year report for 2013

"Julie Young from Sporing Pulse and Christine Newberry, worked tirelessly with the member clubs in an effort to provide an equitable draw for all clubs.
The fixtures continually appear to be an item for constant scrutiny and discussion from year to year irrespective who is creating the fixtures or in what league."

Metro South never did the fixture for Metro West, if their was any clashes they worked it out together and made sure that there was no clashes with games.

The release to the media etc of the new Junior rules from U 6 to U 10 is certainly causing a huge uproar around the place.

Be very interested to see how this will play out for Clubs and if it will have an affect on numbers over the coming seasons

This is why kids these days are spoiled little brats - they never learned the benefits of winning and losing.

There rules are modified in those grades, but not to the draconian extent advocated by the AFL.

Scores are still kept etc.

Yeah you're probably in a better position to make an assessment of the merit of junior rules than the AFL.

Honestly, the AFL runs a professional Australian Rules Football League. It's role as a general guardian of the game, in a manner to that which say Cricket Australia is for Cricket, is by far overestimated. Their interests, and the interests of the sport in general to an extent overlap but should not be thought of as identical.

When I was in under 10s we kept scores. As you can see I am irrevocably damaged and lost to the game.

I for one am not convinced that NEMJFA is the be all and end all of associations

I have heard reports of standover type tactics and bullying ( for the want of a better term) being used to intimidate delegates to "agree" to certain proposals.

IF this does indeed happen it is unlikely decisions are being made for all the right reasons but mainly to help certain adgendas.

Interesting reading some forums, media comments on line etc re all of this.

Appears now even some schools are now not holding sports days etc because kids win and lose, where is it going to stop.

No doubt soon it will happen in basketball and netball, cant happen in tennis because they don't play on a time limit

Whilst i agree we don't need premiership tables etc for the younger grades what harm is done by posting scores and best players etc.

I know in my time involved in the Juniors at Broadview that in the Juniors (U6-U10) we made sure that every player got mentioned in the best players
at some stage during the year. The kids got alot out of it even more so when they went home and saw their name on the website in the best players or because they kicked a goal or two.

This new system robs the kids of this, even without the scores being published the kids will know if they won or lost.

I wait with baited breath this season of having a young players parent ring me because Tommy wants to ask me why his name isnt on our website because
he kicked a goal, I know whose phone number I will be giving him.

As I said before, the only people that are losing out of these new rules are the kids, and aren't we talking about kids footy.

Once again these are my thoughts only and have been made by my personal opinions and not those of the BFC or the NEMJFA

oh yes, can't forget the posts I've seen from certain junior club committees in the NE Metro Junior football league telling their troops to keep their opinions to themselves because of emails or phone calls they've received from the league.
