cj - what is with you and div 7 threads, just can't stay away from them can ya.

warriors are out for '07 lads so looks like it might be a 9 team comp or is it true that kuarna eagles and wingies have merged to make it an 8 team comp in div 7.

Division 7 will always have 10 teams, a club will bring 2 sides up from Div 8 prob SMOSH or Modbury

what do some of the guys playin Div 7 think about going out to Gawler to play???
Thats where Trinity OS will be playing from this year. @ Main Oval, Trinity Campus
And to verify the rumours Keith Hooker is coaching out there and is dirty with EFC 4 his treatment. and i totally agree, missing a GF by 4-5 goals shouldnt get u sacked. Wish him all the best.

Well, at least one thing players will be playing on the best facilities available.
The drive isn't that much further than Blakeview - as you'd know Lizbef, it's only an extra 10 minutes on top to the main campus from Blakeview.
Players will relish the much larger oval and changerooms compared to what they played on this year.

As for Hooks - I can understand his disappointment, and would like to know the full story before I comment more.
Is he taking any players with him Lizbef?

is this confirmed they are def playing there?
hope so cos last year was worst game i ever been involved in
how the amateur league let that go as an oval to play on is beyond me
under 9's should be on that

the drive is no prob i wouldnt think
most teams are out north/northeast anyway
would be a prob for flinders uni but they not there anyway

According to a mate who plays out there its definatly hapening. I know its not far geographically especially 2 me in Blakeview but it brings in the question, should a team be playing amatuer league when they are playing out of Gawler when they have their own league? Im not against it at all, i just wonder what others think.

I think eventually, once Trinity has been around a few more years and a few more decent players move through their system, they'll end up in the BL&G league as the 10th team. if Gawler keeps expanding the way it is, it can easily house 4 teams. Not sure how the junior side will work, but I still don't classify Gawler as metropolitan.

They won't ever play BL&G.
You need junior teams to play in that comp (and they'd rather play them at college level) and netball teams.
And you may not regard Gawler as country, but it pretty much is suburbs these days, and as the suburbs expand further north, you'll soon find more clubs out north (if they don't all play soccer that is).
Also worth noting Houghton could be considered a Hills team - meaning they could easily plays Hills footy...Not that I'm suggesting they should or would, but it's a similar argument.

This is an interesting discussion, I wonder if for any reason the Southern league fell over would every body be happy to play at Aldinga or Willunga?

I see your point Bandar - but those teams are in an already established competition, Trinity is not.

I know Gumeracha were considering joining amateurs, div 7 I think, in 2007 because they were really struggling in the Hills. I believe the members squashed it pretty early though.

It would be interesting though, where would the boundary finish or do the saafl let anyone join?

I think we get a bit carried away with the travel thing.
Look at it this way that those teams that are going to play against Trinity at the most will have to travel ONCE to play them at home and its Trinity that have to do all the traveling.

Having just spent a year in the Southern League travel travels not to bad in SAAFL.

Before anyone complains they should have a look at some of the country comps, now thats travel.
When to much sport is never enough

Slowly there has been a creep north because the a northern league fell over, and I guess the same would apply if the SFL tumbled. Of course at this stage that doesn't look like happening but it only takes a couple of the closer clubs e.g. Morphettville, Brighton or Marion to think the grass is greener to start a rot.
