Hi All... I'm a first time caller, long time listener.

Can I just say what a joy it is this season playing in a division where any team can win on the day. Apart from the top 2 teams, no one is a certainty of avoiding relegation.

I look forward to future correspondence.

Good call Footy Pro, no wonder we can't get umpires with all these critics canning them week in week out

Look if you are going to put your hand up to umpire (especially B grade footy) just be consistant for both teams. Whether that be bad or good, as long as it is the same for both sides.

Yeah but as an umpire if you miss 1 thing you are labelled a cheat and then it steam rolls from there. I gave it a go at the start of the year and found it very difficult. I think I got called a cheat about 4 times by the opposing team and got abused by my own team about the same amount of times. You just can't win. If I was still able to play I would give the umps a lot more respect.

Umm, not sure if this has been mentioned at all by someone else here because I can't remember where I heard it - but is Stubberfield coming back for West Croydon this week?

Not to sure when Stubby is due back but have heard Bryant has a broken arm??

How long is he out for?

I'm guessing the standard 6 weeks!

Unlucky for Bryant to break his arm but lucky for us if he is out. He's been in good form for WC being second on the goalkicking so far this season with 29.

we arent saying that umpiring is easy but all we ask is that if you are gonna do it dont favour your own side so much that it stands out

to be honest you take the good with the bad...... it evens itself up throughout the year... yes it does get frustrating, but it will only get worse during the game if you continue to argue with the umpire...

Yeah but sometimes like it or not, you umpire an undisciplined rabble (who don't think they are an undisciplined rabble, mind you). And you are continually paying free kicks against one side. (it could well be your own side too! I used to cop it from my own club and people started thinking i hated my own club! how idiotic!). And because of this they think your cheating.

I brought that to the attention of the umpiring department when they brought in the rule that you could only umpire your back half, or back 2/3 as it should be if your umpiring correctly (you don't stop umpiring just because its gone past half way!).

At least if you swap ends at the half way mark the other ump has to pay them too, and all of a sudden it isn't cheating!

All umpires should just get in the right positions to make the calls! In APFL the best umpires in our league are the ones who can keep up with the play and dont guess from 15+ away. Whenever you think the umpire has been making bad calls look at his positioning and see where he is.

I think he'll be lining up with WC this week, North Clare must have received back his sign on fee.

The best two B Grade umpires i ever saw were the two old blokes , K.T from Rosewater and the bloke that retired two years ago from North Haven ,i think his name was Terry.
